We had dinner in the dining room from the a la carte menu. The food was good but not spectacular and we thought it a bit expensive - but then getting supplies in the Highlands is probably an expensive business. The menu was short and changed regularly - a good sign - and the vegetables were nicely cooked and seasonal. I could have done without 3 different sorts of potato, though, and would advise others to avoid the pork medallions with green peppercorn sauce unless they enjoy a really burning sensation in the mouth! But it was nice to have had a pleasant meal without having to travel and the atmosphere was nice and the staff friendly. So 4 stars instead of 3.
