Ranked #11 of 35 Hotels in Inverness

Reviewed February 25, 2013

This was our 6th time time to the Palace Hotel in Inverness. We'd booked a weekend break in February and once again enjoyed our experience at the hotel. We had dinner on the 1st night
in the hotel, the menu had an excellent variety of starters & mains and we all really enjoyed our meal.
The Hotel also has a pool & gym which hotel residents are free to use. We used the pool on both days. Our 5 year old g/daughter loves it.There is also a sauna, steam room & jacuzzi which are also free to use.
We stayed in room 106, in the newer part of the hotel at the back. It was a large family room with a large LCD TV. The shower was brilliant and there were complimentary soap, shower gel & shampoo. The rooms are cleaned daily to a very good standard & teas/coffees etc replenished.
The room was above the changing rooms and we were aware of the vents which could be heard to about 10pm and seemed to start up about 5am. It didn't bother us too much, not enough to ask to be moved. Although next time we go, prior to arrival we will ask for another room.
The hotel is in a great location, right on the river and looking onto Inverness castle. Just cross the bridge and you're a right in the town.
The hotel has limited parking, like a few town city centre hotels, but they have valet parking where you're car is dropped of at the car park at the cathederal and picked up again for you if you should need it.
Children also get a free activity pack on arrival.
The hotel is rated as 3* although I would rate at the higher end, if not 4*.
We have stayed in a few hotels in Inverness and this is our favourite. It's always the one we book if they have available dates.
I would highly recommend the Palace Hotel and look forward to returning again this year.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on a higher floor. Suites are to the front and look over the river to the castle...

This was our first trip to Inverness in 30 years so I am unable to compare this hotel with others in Inverness.

We took advantage of the 2 night Feb/Mar deal. 2 nights bed and breakfast with dinner and bottle of wine on the first night. We thought that was very good value.

The hotel is so very well situated - close to the bridge and just a few minutes from restaurants and bars. The hotel is very clean and fresh. We were upgraded to a room overlooking the river and castle - and were very grateful for this. It was a very spacious, comfortable room, warm and very clean. The shower was terrific.

The staff were all friendly and keen to help.

Breakfast had a good range and I particularly liked the bread they used for toast. It was very good for a 3 star hotel and there would be something for most people.

The pool and jacuzzi looked good although we were unable to use the spa facilities on this occasion.

We did enjoy our stay - found it relaxing and easy and the staff were very nice. It is a welcoming hotel. We will return and hopefully enjoy the spa facilities on the next occasion.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the river have a lovely view.

This was my third visit to the restaurant in the hotel and was not disappointed.
The service was just as good as the first if not better.
The staff was very efficient and friendly from the reception to the restaurant staff.
The menu had plenty of choice and the food was good.
The service was fast and friendly. the restaurant was quite busy with other diners in.
The restaurant was very clean with a good atmosphere.
I would certainly recommend this restaurant and I will certainly be returning.

Room Tip: try their mixed grill. (Bet you won't finish it all)

This is a good hotel in the centre of Inverness. It is on the other side of the river from the railway station so a good 10 minute walk. There is not much in the way of parking at the hotel but the surrounding streets are all free of charge. There is an annexe on the back of the hotel. The front of the hotel is overlooking the river. The hotel has some good offers so make sure you check this out first.

We stayed here on a February/March deal (2 nights bed & breakfast, with dinner on the first night). Definitely a great offer! Our room was located in the annexe at the back. It was nice, a good size and very clean. The only negative was that the floor above was very squeaky, which I believe they are addressing. We used the pool and spa which was great (with decent hair dryers and plastic bags provided for your wet swimsuit). Dinner on the first night was excellent and the breakfasts were good too (they use good quality bread for the toast). The staff were very friendly and helpful. Surprisingly, the hotel inform guests that if they wish to "sneak in a bottle of wine" to drink in the room, they can phone reception and they will provide glasses and a bottle opener and even an ice bucket if required. However this wasn't necessary as we received a free bottle of wine in the room with our deal! Nothing seemed too much trouble and I'd definitely stay here again, though would probably choose a river view next time.

We stayed at the Palace Hotel in bitterly cold weather. It is very conveniently placed for the town centre but in a quiet riverside location opposite Inverness Castle. We had a good sized warm, comfortable modern bedroom with king size double bed, easy chairs, proper wardrobe, a table and chair for any work you might need to do, free wi-fi and flat screen tv. The bathroom was spotlessly clean. Breakfasts were excellent with choice of 9 hot selections plus all the normal cold. Hotel staff were all very helpful. We paid less than we would have done at the nearby budget hotel and considered everything to be very good vale for money. If ever we are in Inverness again, this is where we shall be. We did not use the fitness centre nor swimming pool but they looked as well kept and clean as the rest of the hotel.

Room Tip: We were in room 109
