Description: Built in the mid 1700’s, The Castle Tavern has kept its traditional feel and charm from centuries past. Not only does it overlook the River Ness, the Tavern sits across from the Inverness Castle and the start/finish of the Great Glen Way trail. You can no doubt enjoy some of the best views Inverness has to offer. The venue boasts a bar, first floor restaurant and a beer garden. A Real Ale bar and restaurant serving freshly prepared food made from the best locally sourced ingredients (daily specials available).

Take time if you are in Inverness to visit the Castle Tavern you will not be disappointed, if you like real ale there is a good selection for the most discerning palate. We had lunch during ou visit and were impressed by the choice of dishes and first clas service.

Sat outside on a lovely summer evening and what a joy. Really friendly, efficient service. The haggis is a must. It is not fine dining food but it is good but what makes this place, outside eating anyway, is the service and the atmosphere which gives such a 'feel good factor'. Staff are so friendly, accommodating and happy. Hope they get a good bonus as its not particularly the food which makes this establishment a good place to go though it is good. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or go back.

Beautiful pub with the friendliest staff, great brews and delicious food. I live in an area known for clam and fish chowders but I have never had as good a chowder as I had here, the Cullen Skink. Awful name, delicious smoked haddock and leek chowder. Silky smooth and delicious, with the smokiness very subtle, like smoked bacon in a clam chowder. When I raved about this to the waitress, she offered to go get the recipe from the chef. When the owner came in later and I complimented him, he treated me like an old buddy. We traded stories of drinking and eating in Boston and finished with him giving me a tasting glass as a gift. And a free glass has nothing to do with this review, I loved this place.
PS Try the Inky Pinky ale.

We visited Scotland in August 2013, and this pub our best lunch experience. Friendly staff, great ale selection, and wonderful food. The haggis was the best, as well as the bangers and mash. My wife had the ploughman's lunch, which was excellent too. Check out the pictures. Great atmosphere on the outdoor patio.
