Went on a Sat lunchtime in Jan 2013. Haven't been for years but have fond memories of great lunches here.
What a disappointment.
Arrived about 12.15pm for lunch and were seated quickly, albeit by a draughty door, although the restaurant cannot be blamed for people standing in a queue and holding the outer door open I guess.
Ordered drinks, 1coke, 1 coffee, 1 milkshake. The coke and milkshake arrived and at £3, we found the milkshake underwhelming. Tasted like Crusha mixed with milk and I suspect it was.
3 sandwiches ordered and they were small for a lunch portion at £5-6 each. The egg mayo was very salty, although the other two fillings were fine. The wholesale bread was stale but the white was fine.
Had to chase a waitress for my coffee which they seemed to have forgotten.
We were in there for 20 mins and spent over £23 for 3 drinks and 3 sandwiches.
OK, not the most expensive lunch in the world but it felt like poor value.
We left hungry and feeling a bit ripped off to be honest.

Reasonably priced, not pretention, and with friendly and efficient waiting staff. The food is good quality, with good-sized portions, and the atmosphere is cosy and quiet.

My only complaint is the menu on their website isn't always kept up-to-date, which can be confusing if you're visiting in a large group and try to plan meals out in advance.

Always lovely for breakfast or lunch ...or even coffee and a cake. Their cakes are fabulous! Also very handly location, just opposite the eastgate shopping centre.

Consistently good service, food, decor, and service. Always busy with locals and tourists. Extensive menu at moderate prices.

We have been on a few occasions and normally we have no problems, seated quickly in a good seat for having a buggy...on one occasion though we were put up stairs which resulted in being in th way :( food is always good and served quickly even when busy
