I ummed and ahed about what to rate this place. In the end I have settled on five stars given how unique the property is and how delicious the food is.

Five stars:

History. Amazing historic building with so much history. Google Bonnie Charles and the Jacobites.

Grounds. The grounds are beautiful. I felt like a character from Jane Austen book as I strolled the gorgeous walled garden. I would love to see it in Spring.

Food. Splurge and book dinner there. You will not be disappointed. Worth every penny for dinner. Presentation and taste of meals is high-end restaurant quality. Would absolutely return for dinner.

Staff. Attentive staff. Not stuffy or pretencious at all. Kyle was superb and entails everything that good customer service is about.

Four stars:

Rooms are great and I love the old-world decor, but I agree with others; they are probably in need of a refurb or freshening up now. Of course you want to maintain the style that is Culloden House, without looking drab or tired.

Would I return? Absolutely. A gorgeous place that allows you step back in time.

Can’t say enough good things about the staff. They greet you at the door with a smile and a joke, help you with your luggage. We had rental car troubles they helped with. They know how to fix a proper drink. They were willing to make a call when other hotels’ staff would just tell you to call. Actually would rate the staff a ten, cept for Noel. (Actually, he adds a huge plus for the hotel)

The hotel is old, quaint if you will. If you can’t handle stairs it is a problem. This is not a high tech facility so bring your own.

The meals are good. A variety of dishes, and breakfast is solid

Loved this place!! The grounds are absolutely stunning!! We walked around the garden area and all the beautiful flowers were breath taking. We really enjoyed our stay even if it was only one night!! We made the most of it!!

Unfortunately, I had just been to several 5 star castle hotels before staying here so my expectations were maybe unrealistic for Culloden House. It is a very nice place and the staff is very pleasant but the decor is just tired and old and there is no air conditioning. Although they provide you with a fan and encourage you to open your widows, we were there in August and just could not get the room comfortable enough to sleep. I gave it 4 stars because I do think for the right person this might be a beautiful hotel and a great experience but it was a little too quiet for me and not a lot to do.

Great meal, attentive staff, gorgeous historic venue. We’ll be back. Called in on a tour from Thistle Excursions who were also fabulous. The gardens were also immaculate. Food menu great choices. We might be back at Christmas.
