Elegant and stately, Culloden House is like going back in time to experience some of Scotland's history. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms were spacious (we stayed in the garden mansion rooms). As you might expect from a house over 300 years old, some of the furnishings were "historic" and a bit tired. However, it is part of the charm. Listening to the bagpiper play while enjoying drinks in the lounge was a nice touch. The best part of CH is the staff. They are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Many have been employed there for twenty plus years and you can tell they genuinely care for their guests. Breakfast was made to serve and was excellent. It is a great location, with many golf courses and tourism sites very accessible within a short drive. Don't miss the Culloden Battle Field and the Clava Cairns. We also enjoyed lunch at the Cawdor Tavern and visited Cawdor Castle and Loch Ness.
