Just back from a great 3 day deal at the Royal Highland. Lovely hotel, grand staircase on entry. We had a lovely room (107), facing onto High Street but we didn't find it that noisy, there was a complimentary tray in room with bottles of still/sparkling water/various teas/coffees and hot chocolate/biscuits/candy sweets, topped up daily, lovely toiletries in bathroom too. Evening meal in Ash restaurant was excellent, great choice of food/wine/cocktails. Breakfast in a large bright room, great choices again- you could either have Full Scottish Breakfast or just Continental, staff all very helpful. Left luggage area which was great as we checked out at 1030 and transport wasn't until 1600. Hotel is in great location for bus/rail stations, shops, river walks.

Room Tip: Room 107 - refurbished room, spotless

This hotel is right opposite the Inverness Train station - so very centrally located to the city and is walking distance from most of Inverness. This was part of out Scottish Tour and our entire group was put up here in the hotel - and we found the ambience really welcoming and comfortable. After a long day's trek, the staff made us welcome and were very friendly.

This hotel is not a sterile chain budget hotel, it is full of character and I would describe it as quirky (in a good way). It is spotless and well presented. The staff are friendly and welcoming and always willing to help.
The bedroom windows are not hermetically sealed, as some reviewers seem to want, so there is air in the rooms. A bit of outside noise creeps in with the air but how many of us sleep in a totally silent environment at home. My room was lovely and well sized with a good sized bathroom. The bed was very comfortable.
It is located centrally so don't stay here if you want countryside but being next to the train and bus station means travel is really easy.
The restaurant was fine. It is not the finest dining but is good food at good value and the staff are very attentive and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful, with lots of choice and again the staff were helpful and friendly.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to lone female travelers (and everyone else!). I would be very happy to return.

Stayed here twice in the last year.

Booked in solo with no problems but the bathroom was bigger than the box room they put me in. There was a rubbish wee storage heater and some heavy blankets. Felt like I was staying at my grannies.

My room was next to a change in level in the alleyway, it was the weekend ans the sauce was flowing so there was a bit too much noise going on for my liking, I'm usually a sound sleeper but the floorboards kept me awake.

We had a 4 night stay as part of a package holiday and were disappointed with the hotel not I might add the staff who were excellent, friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

The name and website of the hotel reflected a majestic hotel and in a way it was but there were many things that let it down. Paintwork on the windows was very worn and many windows were painted closed so they could not be open. We had room 301 and were kept awake between 2am and 3:30am every night due to very noisy revelers from a local club. Double or even secondary glazing in this room would have helped reduce this noise.

We reported on the first evening that two lights did not work in our room and one bulb in the centre light had blown. This bulb was replaced but the other two lights had not been fixed by the time we left.

Wifi (or not!) - we could not get this in our room at all and had to use the reception area. We signed up for the 45 minute free session so we could use a few minutes in the morning then the rest in the evening - however we had problems trying to use it in the evening and found out on the list night that it had to be used all in one session and you could not reconnect on the same device within 24 hours unless you bought the £5.0 voucher which completely contradicted the instructions we were given on the first day. I found out by talking to a number of other people they had all had the same problem.

Breakfast - good selection but agree with other reviews that the croissants were not as fresh as they could have been. Bread choice was very disappointing to say the least - white or a multi-seed. It would have been helpful to have had mugs or bigger cups for the drinks as the small cups meant several trips to refill or having two to start with.

Would we go back - not sure would need to know the rooms are better maintained and would be quiet.

Room Tip: Do not have room 301 - others on the front of the building (ie facing the main road) may be equally...

Thank you for the kind review - we have noted the points mentionned and will initiate corrective action - however, there seems to be some misunderstanding about part usage of the free 45 mins wifi per day - this is possible and we have checked it again. We hope to welcome you again.
