Every place we go we try to find a used book store. This had to be the best store in our entire trip to Great Britain. We were overwhelmed with the numbers of books. In an old church it is crammed from top to bottom. The staff are eager to help you. There are prints, maps, books etc. We spent an hour browsing all the while we were smelling the delightful smells of soup being made for lunch. Needless to say, we ran another errand or so while visiting and then came back for a hot bowl of broccoli soup served with brown bread. It was a very busy place.

I'm a book fan, and rarely happier than when in a secondhand bookshop or library. And the range of books here is superb, particularly older texts. Plus prints as well. I did well just to buy one book and one print. But there are problems for people with mobility difficulties. The bookshop would not be wheelchair accessible, and even someone walking with a stick or difficulty, like me, would struggle with the constant climbing up up and into and out of alcoves to browse the book stock. You also need to take care with the spiral staircase, especially on the way down. But in other respects it is quite marvellous. We also enjoyed our cups of tea in the cafe, late in the day when we were almost the only customers, unlike the crowds earlier.

We stumbled across this find during a stopover in Inverness and was so worth it! This second hand bookshop is like none i've been to before, its so easy to lose a few hours in here browsing the amazing collection of books. I agree with previous comments - set in an old church, the smell of old books, shelves and floors covered with books - it has a wonderful ambience! With a cafe inside, its a great place to relax and while away an afternoon...

Leakey's is in an old church, which makes for an amazing ambiance. There is a cafe on the first floor and books on every inch of shelf and sometimes on the floor. One could easily get lost in there for hours, finding little treasures. If you area book-lover, this is an ABSOLUTE must!

Marvellous place for anyone who has a 'Waterstones allergy'. Thousands of books and prints at all prices from cheap to expensive. I found a classic for my own company at a bargain price. Must see in Inverness.
