Owner description: This wide peaceful river flowing through the city of Inverness is great for fishing salmon.

It was lovely, very picturesque and great to follow all the way to Loch Ness. There were plenty of places to capture it from Inverness all the way to Loch, showing how it carved it's way through the landscape.

The cruise on the Lochness is really breathtaking literally. I had never seen a river or a lake where the water is so choppy that it can roll and toss a big boat and makes you wonder whether the boat is sailing on the back of the legendary Lochness monster.
However, after a few initial moments of anxiety, you can relax and enjoy the ride through the lake. The views along the shore is simply awesome. One can either take a break at the Urquhart castle and catch the next boat back or continue the return journey. The whole trip takes about an hour and is worth every second and every penny.

Walking on the Islands and then along the river into the centre of Inverness is extremely pleasurable. Ness Islands are beautiful - leafy and tranquil, a real haven of peace and quiet.

The tiny city of Inverness never fails to enchant me. Taking a walk along the banks of the River Ness is just one splendid activity one can enjoy on a warm sunny day. You can criss-cross the bridges, take in views of the Castle, visit the Cathedral, or simply sit on a bench & watch the salmon fishermen do their thing. If you want to escape manic London, do yourselves a favour and spend a weekend away in the gateway to the Scottish Highlands :)

This is a nice river, with excellent views, trees, plants, and wildlife surrounding the river. Of course, it also flows from the Loch Ness. One of the main natural attractions in Inverness - and it's free, and difficult to avoid! Yippee! I would particularly recommend a walk from the centre of Inverness, down the river bank, followed by a walk through Ness Island, and back down the other side of the river bank to Inverness Centre..
