The calm winding river has a nice pathway along the banks. Be sure to stop to visit St. Andrew's Cathedral, a beautiful expression of the architecture of the era...

This river is really nice all along its route, but the views from the bridges looking towards the castle are fantastic. The river side walks are superb too - you really should try the 'islands' walk when it's dark and the coloured lights are on. Very romantic <3

The weather was grey and raining so the river wasn't as attractive as it might otherwise be. But it was a nice walkm - a few anglers in the icy cold water, intersting old suspension bridges, and good views to the castle and other old stone buildings and churches on either side.

We found it so easy to park by the cathedral and then take a circular walk through the islands and then stop riverside for a coffee. The islands are really cool and the river walk is nice. It will not take long and is a great way to start your day of exploring.
