Owner description: Opened in 1993 by Prince Edward, Inverness Botanic Gardens, formerly Inverness Floral Hall & Gardens, are an oasis of calm and beauty within walking distance of the city centre. With each new season the outside gardens are an explosion of colour and texture, and borders are planted to demonstrate a wide variety of plants and growing conditions. The impressive glasshouses reveal the drama of plant diversity ranging from the tropical rainforests to arid, heat scorched desert.

“Nice and peaceful”

Small, but you would expect that for the population. Cacti house and also a tropical plant glasshouse- complete with fishpond. Really nice experience with a great cafe that serves nice cake, I recommend the coffee cake eaten outside in the gardens.

“Peaceful beauty and a nice tearoom”

Second time there. So beautiful. The perfect flower garden everyone would like to have. You can have afternoon tea and continue to wander. I took a picture of every flower, I think.

“Great Gardens”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

Not large but full of colorful flowers of all types. Greenhouse with a desert exhibit including carnivorous plants. Water feature with waterfall and Koi pond. Very relaxing walk in the beautiful gardens. There is even a sensory section. We were impressed with how well-planned and maintained this garden is. Lots of visitors were enjoying the café. Glad we stopped to experience this attraction that Inverness can be proud of. No cost for entry.

“Vibrant, gorgeous displays”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

We walked from the cathedral along the banks of the River Ness to the Botanics (Floral Hall and Garden). It was a very enjoyable walk, and we were greeted by an abundance of colour in the gardens. These are small, but extremely well maintained. The staff were helpful. There is also opportunity to rest your weary legs in the coffee shop and buy plants for home.
We then walked back to the city centre via the Ness islands. Great to feel in the countryside yet so near the city.

Tip: there is a board map opposite the cathedral which indicates the walking paths around Inverness.
If trying to please various age groups in the family, Whin Park with rides for the kids and boats is just opposite the Gardens.

Found this place on walking my way to the canal, it was a happy surprise. The gardens are very beautiful and well kept. Very relaxing place, and there is also a nice self serving cafe.
