Owner description: Opened in 1993 by Prince Edward, Inverness Botanic Gardens, formerly Inverness Floral Hall & Gardens, are an oasis of calm and beauty within walking distance of the city centre. With each new season the outside gardens are an explosion of colour and texture, and borders are planted to demonstrate a wide variety of plants and growing conditions. The impressive glasshouses reveal the drama of plant diversity ranging from the tropical rainforests to arid, heat scorched desert.

We LOVED the gardens, once we found them! One sign pointed toward gardens, but all that was in sight was gigantic sports complex and its parking lot! We asked at least a dozen people where the Botanical Gardens were and nobody knew! Finally someone said, "There's a cafe that sells plants over there!" We crossed huge parking lot to cafe, and there, behind it, were the gardens! They are spectacular and include glass houses with cacti and tropical plants as well as winding paths through gorgeous blooms, a cottage garden, a butterfly field and even wildlife habitat. A must-see in Inverness for the garden lover.

Just a short walk along the scenic River Ness, the Botanic Gardens are a lovely place to chill out and enjoy a lunch. A very well laid out garden with an interesting variety of plants, and greenhouses.
Unfortunately one was closed due to vandalism. A great shame in such a quiet well cared for place

The botanic gardens or floral hall as it is known is a nice little place to spend some time. The greenhouses have many tropical plants and fish and there is a nice little tea room as well. On a sunny day it is very peaceful to sit outside and if it is a bit colder then it is warm enough inside the glass houses.

A friendly place to stop for a bite to eat and get more than you bargained for. Conveniently located next to the leisure centre there is lots of parking. Inside there is calm and tranquillity where you can wander at leisure around the various botanical specimens. You will also come across gardening activities of local people with learning support which is most interesting and must provide pleasure for them as well as a sense of achievement as they watch their produce grow.

Don't expect a Kew gardens or RHS Wisley this is small scale with small audiences. The plants are carefully tended and any gardener would feel at home here.

Start by the river and walk to the Islands. Cross to the other side and visit the Inverness Gardens. We returned on the other side of the river and visited the new Concert Hall, an old church and ended at the restaurant Rocpool (one of the best in town).
