Owner description: Opened in 1993 by Prince Edward, Inverness Botanic Gardens, formerly Inverness Floral Hall & Gardens, are an oasis of calm and beauty within walking distance of the city centre. With each new season the outside gardens are an explosion of colour and texture, and borders are planted to demonstrate a wide variety of plants and growing conditions. The impressive glasshouses reveal the drama of plant diversity ranging from the tropical rainforests to arid, heat scorched desert.

We had no idea this was here until we attended photo shoot for a wedding. It's stunning! The advertising should be more upfront. We've told so many people about it --they had no idea it was there .A tiny piece of heaven.

This was a pleasant way to spend an hour or so, just wandering around the gardens. Not as big as many I have seen in my travels around the world but Inverness is only a small city in relation to others around. Some lovely plants in the hot house area. Only interesting for those who love gardening or who appreciate gardens. Pretty boring for kids.

Although we visit Inverness a couple of times per year, neither of us knew that the Botanic Gardens existed! So this was a real find. What an enjoyable visit it proved to be. It was good to get out of the snow showers and into the warmth of the tropical hot houses. A vast array of plants, beautifully laid out, and what's more the attraction is free! We also had a drink in the adjacent cafe. The one downside was the foul smell in the Gents! The Ladies I am told was OK. The Gardens are a good place to visit. Great for photographs.

Great gardens and big hothouses with Cacti and jungle plants. Koi carp for the children, sensory garden for those who love the scents and sounds, lots of seating - and free.
