Owner description: Opened in 1993 by Prince Edward, Inverness Botanic Gardens, formerly Inverness Floral Hall & Gardens, are an oasis of calm and beauty within walking distance of the city centre. With each new season the outside gardens are an explosion of colour and texture, and borders are planted to demonstrate a wide variety of plants and growing conditions. The impressive glasshouses reveal the drama of plant diversity ranging from the tropical rainforests to arid, heat scorched desert.

Good stop for a freshly baked scone and a cuppa. They also do there lite bites. Next to Aquadome swimming pool so park in that car park and walk across.

“Stop in if you are nearby”
Reviewed April 15, 2012

We walked down from the city center to visit (took 20-30 minutes at a leisurely pace). It was a pretty walk, but the signs were a little hard to follow.

The exhibits themselves are as much inside as out and did not take long to walk through. We might have spent more time if the signage was better, but it was sporadic at best. The carniverous ones were neat.

The coffee shop was ok. Our coffees were prepared with relative speed and the cake was tasty albeit dry.

“Like a Garden of Eden”
Reviewed April 10, 2012

We found this place on a walk by the river and what a lovely surprise. It was beautiful even though the weather was terrible. The Cactis centre was lovely and the tropical gardens really worth a look. All in all a lovely place to spend some time in.

“Could do better”
Reviewed March 4, 2012

Living close by, I have tried this cafe on three occasions. On every occasion my visits have been between 1:15 and 2:00. Although I have heard reports of good service from some male staff, on each of my visits I was confronted by a rather unhelpful and less than enthusiastic female member of staff. On each occasion I was informed that the soup had run out, there were no sandwiches ready and the lunch service was over. I resorted on two occasions to just a cup of coffee - seemingly begrudgingly presented and on the third occasion I left without any purchase. Interestingly, my disappointment is greater due to the fact that this is part of the Cobb's chain of which I have always been very complimentary. You need to keep your eye on the ball guys!
