Owner description: Opened in 1993 by Prince Edward, Inverness Botanic Gardens, formerly Inverness Floral Hall & Gardens, are an oasis of calm and beauty within walking distance of the city centre. With each new season the outside gardens are an explosion of colour and texture, and borders are planted to demonstrate a wide variety of plants and growing conditions. The impressive glasshouses reveal the drama of plant diversity ranging from the tropical rainforests to arid, heat scorched desert.

Visited here on Saturday, while dodging showers! Small but perfectly formed, I'd say!

“Not quite Kew Gardens”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2011

but you could compare them in the same sentence. Very good collection of plants, tropical and native, many in flower despite the end of Summer.
Glasshouse to retreat from rain.
Very close to centre of city (I walked it easily in 20 minutes); excellent use of time waiting for the London sleeper train.

“hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2011

You can easily spend a few hours wandering around this attraction. Relaxing surroundings inside and out. Under glass are loads of flowers and plants, one large area is dedicated to cacti and there are seats all the way around. Carp fish to watch and plants and veg to purchase at very good prices. Outside there are paths winding around lovely gardens with lots to see. My 9 yr old had a wonderful time exploring and can't wait to return.

“A beautiful place to visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2011

Bring your camera and enjoy the views. There are many beautiful things to see both indoors and outside. We especially enjoyed the display of carnivorous plants. They have quite a collection!

visited floral hall april 2007. we actually came across it by accident on way to swimming pool. plants are really superb. the highlight of our visit were the koi carp , my little girl of 1 year was enthralled by them, we had to stand there for 2 hours looking at them, everything about the place was just fantastic and really good value for money. the staff in the coffee shop could not have been more helpfull.
we plan on visiting floral hall again april 2008
well worth seeing.
