The wife has become a "Pict-omaniac" and had to see the Pictish carved stones at this museum. The museum is well-organized and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Tons of information on the geology of the area, as well as on archaeological work in the area. Recommend highly.

I loved this museum - all very good about the local geology of the area (which is really what Scotland is all about - stone and water), great natural history with stuffed animals that you could touch - yay!!! and to top it off a Féileadh Mòr - a full kilt that you can try on and then take a photo of yourself. I really think this is a great museum full of local colour and information.
Go and put yourself into a kilt!

It was interesting and one of the only indoor attractions in Inverness.

Hidden away behind the town Hall with no signs that I could see. Entrance itself approached amongst the bins. A dominant entrance from the river with a big sign would be good if possible. Once inside 2 floors - free - items are well displayed and interesting . Helpful staff. plenty for kids to do. Lift wasn't working - oh dear! but you would have had to climb a hill and steps just to get to the front anyway!

Well set out and visually beautiful, this facility is poorly used, but it should be on every visitors itinerary. It is just behind the Tourism office but not promoted by them, shame.
