“Beautiful!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2014 via mobile

We were here 11th & 12th July for a friends wedding.

Beautiful property with stunning views!

On the Friday we had drinks buffet and music and they let the Bride and Groom hire a bungee race and sumo suits for us to use which was brilliant fun.

Saturday the day of the wedding we were lucky enough with the weather for the ceremony to be held outside the food was amazing (chicken parfait, beef with potato Rosti & green beans and blueberry cheese cake) and the same room was cleared after to make way for a dance floor & dj.

The bar staff were very friendly in particular Holly/Hollie (for me) one of the children wanted to draw some pictures and she kindly went and got him some colouring pencils which he loved!

Fab experience would definitely recommend

Stayed 3 nights last week for a short break. This is a lovely non-chain hotel with all the character of what we imagine a large Highland retreat to have, even the stag's head and resident ghost (who may have been the one who turned our TV on whilst we were at breakfast, I think she likes the news). All the public areas are well presented and the staff are very friendly and happy to help. If you plan on sightseeing and are able, I would advise hiring a car as the hotel is a little outside of Inverness centre and you have to travel a fair few miles to see the beauty of the Highlands. (If you like dramatic scenery consider Plodda falls and Rogie falls - a fair drive but worth it - Plodda falls is a dirt track part of the way but leave the car washing to the Hire company ! Tee Hee. ). Essentially, this hotel is out of town, but that is to its credit - we were so glad to have chosen it for its location is perfect for a restful stay. The sunsets over the Beauly Firth (which the Hotel overlooks) are stunning, don't forget that Box Brownie. The breakfasts are yummy and dinners are artistically presented. Of course you must visit Loch Ness, if you have no car check out your alternatives for getting around before booking, I have no idea where the nearest train station is, just plan things as with relative seclusion comes travel, so just check it out. The Hotel is perfect and run with pride.

This was a bit of luxury for us at the end of a seven day loop to Skye and back during which we experienced a wide variety of accommodation and a singular commonality of breakfast menu, distinguished mainly by the quality of coffee. So did Bunchrew come up to expectation? Yes. Was it good value at about 30% more than anywhere else that we stayed? Probably. The setting is superb, the 17th century building attractive and the public rooms comfortable and impressive. If you can get a table in the big bay window of the dining room looking across the loch you would have to be very jaded not to be wowed, even on a grey overcast day. Our standard bedroom with a side view of the loch was comfortable in all respects with a good spacious bathroom. If we had any neighbours we did not hear them and it was without question the quietest night of our trip. Only misgivings were the cracked window pane and broken sash cord, which seemed to surprise the receptionist when we told her. We did get the feeling that the place is being run with a skeleton staff, which does not quite match the grand surroundings. The barman and receptionist doubled up as waiters for dinner and a sole hard-worked waitress covered the massive dining room. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the service level was good (we did not want to use the presumably unmanned bar) but it might have been less so if the hotel had been full. Outside also has the air of just-enough with rather unkempt grounds. And to finish, some good news: although not very fast, the wifi in our bedroom was good enough to download the newspaper and play the Mindgames.

My sister and I stayed at this hotel in April and loved it. All of the staff are accommodating and very giving of their time and information. David, the manager, is fascinating and just as interesting as the property itself. And for all of you Outlander fans this property represents the real merging of the MacKenzies and the Fraser clans and it's history even includes the historical Lord Lovat.

It's more an experience than a hotel. Definitively stay for dinner and finish off with dessert and matching wine at the bar.

I also loved the deco, full of giant pictures. And the view of the loch from the restaurant is very cinematic. I loved it.

We visited Bunchrew House as our 2nd wedding anniversary treat - and how wonderful if was!

From the moment we arrived and were greeted by staff, bags taken up to the room and shown around the wonderful Lovat suite - we knew we were going to have a wonderful stay. The room was beautiful, sympathetically decorated with an amazing four poster bed (steps on either side of the bed as it's so big).

Over the couple of day we were there, we got to know the staff well - they were happy to take the time to chat to us and remembered our food and drink preferences. Nothing was too much trouble and unlike other big hotels where you're just another face, at Bunchrew the intimate family feel of the hotel felt really genuine. Everything - from the food and drink (sublime) to the service (impeccable) and everything in between - was memorable.

The house and grounds were beautiful - anyone who enjoys photography will have countless opportunities to take some stunning photos. (the shore and view up towards the bridge are particularly incredible). The location is perfect as it's only around 5 miles from Inverness. From there, the Kessok bridge is the gateway to the most northerly part of the Highlands and reminds you of how stunning the Scottish countryside is.

If you're Scottish - go. It'll make you even more proud to be Scottish (not that we need any reason!). If you're not - definitely go. You'll be stunned by this wonderful place and the magic of the Highlands will draw you in.

Cant wait till our next visit :)

My husband and I were married at Bunchrew House in April 2014 and the whole experience was a dream come true. Our day began and ended perfectly, every little attention to detail was looked after. Everything from the wedding ceremony to the reception went smoothly and we couldn't have asked for anything more. The staff were simply amazing.

We had a very international wedding with guests attending from all over Europe. People are still complementing us on "a truly wonderful location".

Our meal was superb with everything cooked to perfection, this did mean however that everything my Husband ate on our honeymoon "didn't quite compare to his meal at Bunchrew!"

Thank you for making our dream day a reality and we hope to be back very soon to enjoy some time at your wonderful hotel.
