“fabulous wedding venue”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Was there for a wedding reception on 23 March. Never been before, but would most certainly be very happy to go back. Superb venue, great staff and a fabulous meal. Can't praise place highly enough. Everyone seemed to have a great time and the venue, meal and staff helped that hugely.

Second time staying in this hotel on business & definitely won't be the last!

Rooms have everything you need & very comfortable. Bathrooms could be updated but very clean & do fit with style/age of hotel.

Public areas are very relaxing, especially the lounge with the real sofas & comfy sofas. Could spend all night drinking wine & chatting.

Service is exceptional. Roddy, the manager, is very welcoming & couldn't do enough to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Receptionist in the morning slightly 'nippy' but no major problems.

Food fantastic - cant rate it higher.

Will be back for a personal visit with partner it's that nice. Can't recommend higher!

Only thing I would say is its slightly pricey. Great when company are paying but would think twice if coming out own pocket. Good deals on late rooms at times - keep your eye on it.

What a find this hotel turned out to be!

We stayed in December as a 3-night pre-Christmas break, and chose the Craigtoun Suite. This room is slightly unusual as it has its own dedicated parking place and its own conservatory facing directly on to the Beauly Firth. Access to the hotel facilities is via a short outside walk, which I guess if the weather was particularly poor, might be a bit frustrating. We only had light snow, so it was great! One very minor reservation is that the Craigtoun suite is next door to the kitchen extractor fan, and while this wasn't too intrusive, we were aware of it.

Bunchrew is a small country house hotel which was everything we'd hoped for and more! Our room was spacious and immaculately clean. The public rooms in the main hotel are very comfortable, aided in December by the log fires, and the overall ambience is one of quiet relaxation.

The staff were all bright, affable, polite and extremely helpful at all times, and as has been commented upon, both professional and friendly in the carrying out of their roles.

The quality of the food was superb at every meal, as was the quality of the service, and the prices also represented very good.

Locally, there is easy access to Inverness town to the east, and also to the spectacular mountain and loch scenery to the west.

Having stayed in many hotels and guest houses over the years, this was as near to perfection as we've experienced, and we are already looking forward to our next visit there, whenever that might be.

Room Tip: All rooms are well described on the hotel's website - choose the one to suit your taste, though...

Stayed at Bunchrew House Hotel as an anniversary treat. Bunchrew is an old house decorated traditionally and a little worn in places but cosy. We had a warm welcome on arrival and shown to Ardfearn which is a superior double overlooking the garden. All rooms are shown on the website so you know exactly what to expect which I think is great. We found all the staff to be friendly (altho we are quite chatty folk) and service was good. Room service (drinks) arrived promptly and after dinner drinks in the lounge with log fire was lovely on a very cold and windy night. Dinner was excellent, my husband had the venison and I had the scallops both of which were delicious. The star of the show strangely were the homemade oatcakes with the cheeseboard which were just sublime! The hotel is right on the estuary which was very atmospheric at breakfast watching the tide was coming in. Overall we had a lovely stay and will certainly return. Altho it did work out quite pricey, it was thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable.

Room Tip: Check the website and ask for your preferred room.

The setting was magnificent, made all the better by the fantastic weather we had whilst we were there. The staff were second to none, very professional, but also very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The food was absolutely brilliant, especially the desserts !! We were hoping it was going to be an old fashioned hotel, and it was just that, including creaky floorboards, and resident ghost !!

We had a lovely coal effect gas fire in our room (Wyvis), which made it very cosy. Fresh milk was in the fridge every day, and our room looked out over the water, so it was everything we wanted.

Would definately stay here again without hesitation.

This was a weekend break just to relax and overeat - we did both. Stayed in a superior double - great views and very comfortable. Friendly and welcoming staff throughout - very efficient service in the restaurant. Food was very good, nicely portioned and presented and always served with a smile. Some very yummy desserts. Pre dinner drinks and after dinner coffee in the lounge in front of a nice log fire. We have stayed in similarly rated hotels but it was nice to see that the staff at all levels were happy to have good natter with you - in other hotels they are clearly told to only speak when spoken to but it makes for a much friendlier atmosphere when you can have a chat. Overall a quality experience and would definitely return - even if it was only for the poached eggs and smoked haddock for breakfast!!
