I just dropped into The Dairy at Daviot for a coffee, however I was most surprised how nice the whole place was. Lunches were available, home made Ice Cream and a little play area for children. The inside décor is fantastic and they have a great selection of food, the fish and chips looked great. Looks like they also have accommodation available.

“Excellent value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2014

Called here on our journey home from the north of Scotland. It is situated just off the main road, the A9 I think. We only called in for some quick refreshments and a toilet break but when we saw what was on offer on the menu and what was being served, we decided to stay for lunch and we were not disappointed. We all selected something different from the extensive menu but our meals were quick to be served by the friendly staff and we were all very satisfied with our selections, good food and good value for money.

Called in at the Dairy on my way north, this is a wonderful place for the car bound children to run free and play. The food was freshly prepared to order and covered all tastes as we had a vegan teenager with us! The cakes were just that bit different and not only looked inviting but were delicious.Coffee was the best we tasted for a long time, the only hiccup was my elderly mother tripped and almost came to grief on the toys lying in the entry and from I was informed the ice cream parlour which is ajacent.Safety issue maybe. On the whole an excellent stop reasonably priced, helpful cheerful staff and we will return on our way south Thank you The Dairy.

“Salt overkill”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2014

The Dairy is part of a converted steading that includes several holiday homes. Inside the architecture doesn't lean itself well to being a restaurant as you have to wind yourself around the eating areas to get to the out of sight self service area where you order/choose your food. Decor is plain but pleasant with a choice of two eating areas one of which is a little dark but the other has large windows overlooking the car park. As you sit down you realise that the chairs are not really matched for the tables as your chin comes near level with your food!

The Dairy specialises mainly in lunches and snacks and opening hours reflect this.

The food on offer reminded me of traditional pub faire, the likes of fish & chips, jacket potatoes. There was also a selection of cakes which where laid out on an open table (not very hygienic?)

Staff were friendly although it would be good if there was one person to meet and greet and direct people as to where they should go. Today there was one member of staff sat at regular table with her laptop sort of for filling that function. There wasn't any clear policy at the counter with regard payment, you could choose to pay there and then or after you'd eaten.

If you order soup we discovered that equalled you carrying it to your table and helping yourself to a large plastic bin of bread and also cutlery but the likes of a bowel of chips were taken to the table for you

We did order soup, leak and potato but it was so salty we were both unable to finish it even though we were hungry. It had been part blended so was rather gloopy

The bread was a spongy granary mix but at least it was edible

In it's favour the Dairy is very child friendly even offering a play park outside, but the high ceilings and bare floors could make it quite noisy if it gets full

It's not cheap, our soup was £4.50 a bowel, a price I might not have grudged so much had it been edible

The Dairy really needs some organisation, maybe if they can't afford a member of staff a sign inside the door explaining the layout and how you go about ordering your food as it's easy to sit down expecting waitress service

As for the food... I guess the chef has a palette that's way different to mine

“Good food nice atmosphere very poor service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2014 via mobile

Spent about £80 on food and ice cream ( ice cream tasty and pleasant staff serving the ice cream ) food overall very good , nice atmosphere and nice play park for the kids / but ! not even a thank you by the restaurant staff no inquiry if our food was good or not and the look we got when we disturbed five staff members all sitting down having a break ( having food ) to ask for our bill / on the receipt it states weekend staff ! Good service costs nothing , six adults in our group all agreed a wee bit motivation required , irksome for its a nice place
