“decent indian meal”
Reviewed April 18, 2014

Were not really hungry and just wanted main course which was tasty. House wine a little expensive at £15.
Little atmsphere as climbing stairs to restaurant saw a notice credit card machine broken and only cash taken.
This must have lost a lot of custom especially when machine hadbeen out of order for a few days!

“Great lunch”
Reviewed April 2, 2014

Went for lunch, and could not fault the meal. First class meal and first class service with a very helpful waiter. Plenty of food for a reasonable price for a lunch menu with plenty of choice. Will be going back again.

“Another disappointment”
Reviewed March 31, 2014

Had been recommended by a couple of people. Since Rajah was booked out again, thought a good chance to try this one out. The atmosphere is just bland, an empty room with tables and a rather sterile bar at the end that has no draught beer. While the food was much better than the Cinnamon, it was not up to the Rajah in terms of quality, spice and quantity. Rice bland. Asked to see the sweet menu but it didn't appear. Lost the will and called for bill. Credit card/EFTPOS system seems to have been withdrawn which makes one ask questions? Overall rather anaemic and would not go back.

“Good food, friendly service. ”
Reviewed March 27, 2014 via mobile

Came here on a busy Saturday. Had a venison curry for the first time, was very nice. Service was friendly but not overbearing. No complaints would come again.

“Since when has squid been monk fish”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

Ate at Jaipur on Saturday evening after reading a really good review about this restaurant in a local mag.

In general the food was fine, but nothing special. However I ordered a Monk Fish dish, and if what ever was in it was actually Monk Fish, it was certainly not a part of the fish that is normally eaten in the UK. We think it was actually squid. It was certainly the texture of squid. In the whole dish there were two pieces of "normal" fish. Why they just didn't tell us they didn't have any fish I don't know, but certainly what was served up was totally unacceptable. It's a shame to be honest, as I really liked the sauce it was in. My friends curries were fine, nothing to write home about but pleasant enough. The popadoms and pickles were really good, the peshwari nan also good, but the cheese and garlic nan was also a bit of a disaster. It seemed to be missing the cheese and had grated garlic on top that had dried up and was like getting small bones in your mouth. One of our party used a piece of the garlic as a tooth pick and it worked! The service also wasn't great.

So, I will not be returning and I would not recommend Jaipur, however if you don't order fish you will probably have a reasonably pleasant meal.
