Before making our annual visit to Inverness, I checked TripAdvisor to see if River Cafe and Restaurant was still operating. It is. A reviewer mentioned that it is under new ownership. So it is but it still operates under the belief system that good food and good service is what makes a restaurant. I booked a table after asking if we would be able to bring a wheel chair inside. On the night, we were met at the door and assured everything was set, and so it was. My wife, my three year old Granddaughter, Great Grandma and me were warmly welcomed. My wife and I found River many years ago and make it a point to have at least one dinner there. Our Granddaughter can be a fussy eater but that did not present a problem for the staff. They went well beyond what is expected to ensure we all had an enjoyable dinner. All of our selections were very good choices. The service was wonderful and I had a chance to talk to our waitress who is related to the new owner. There is no need to worry that this is not the same fine restaurant that it has always been for us. We will of course go back next year when we visit. The atmosphere is relaxing, the food is very good and the service even better. It is not a large place and that is fine with me. It is a busy establishment without being noisy or pushing to get the next customers in. Do yourself a favour and dine there. Located on the river, it left time for us walk along and enjoy the scenery after dinner, all of which added to the positive experience of going to the River Cafe. A yardstick I employ is ask myself if I would go back. There is no question there. The answer is a resounding yes.
