“One of the best pub / restaurants around inverness”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

Went in for a late lunch on sat 4th may and enjoyed a friendly welcome, great service, lovely food, generous portions, and reasonable prices. 3 x 3 course meals, 3 x soft drinks and teas afterwards for us all came to a reasonable £67. To give an idea of generous portions, we went in approx 2.30 pm and after a couple of leisurely hours eating, I was so full that I did not eat again for the rest of the day. This was our first time in here and so good was it that my wife and I popped back in the next day for a snack from the light bites menu. Again very satisfying. Highly recommended. Deserves high praise.

“Could be much better food wise”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

Good service. Very pleasant and patient staff. Food though not great. Fishcakes with dill and chips. Turned out to be fish, more fish and fish again. I like fish but this was too strong. No taste of dill whatsoever. The accompanying stornoway black pudding was lovely butnoverwhelmed by the fish and rocket. The rocket salad was far too strong with the very strong fishcakes and did the dish absolutely nothing butnmake it worse. A poor taste bud for a chefnof any standard. I didnt expect fine dining and i didnt get it but ...so frustrating whena chef tries and fails and this failed! Taste the food ....this dish DOES NOT WORK! Finished off with. Drink in the bar next door. Very welcoming and friendly. I will go back but i'll order something simplier that maybe the chef can amalgamate much better.

“Good Menu Friendly Service”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

Visited for the first time today with children, the menu was well varied and a couple of specials were on offer. The staff were attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The quality of the food was good and the portions plentiful - If I was to be picky the only faults' I would possibly find were the burger buns were either too fresh or a bit stale ( I couldn't make my mind up) and this made it impossible to pick up the burger- but then maybe its rude to do that in a restaurant any how! The chips were very run of the mill freeze/fry. Prices are on the high side for what could be considered pub grub but you are paying for fresh home cooked food not some mass produced microwaved sludge. We saw a few Roast dinners going out that looked great and we will definitely return to sample them!
