“Unbeatable value for families”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013

I visited Ash for dinner with my wife and 2 children (4 and 6 years old) while exploring downtown Inverness. We were unsure about the restaurant because of the mixed reviews on TripAdvisor. Glad we stopped in, though! The upscale environs seem at odds with the "family-friendly" theme, but we were seated promptly, the food was very good (modest portions but very rich in flavor), and with drinks, desserts and so on, our bill was under 40 pounds for 4 people! NOTE: restaurants in Inverness seem to offer discounted meals between roughly 5 pm and 7 pm (at least on Sundays). Keep this in mind when seeking out meals!

“A strange place to eat”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013

I went here yesterday with a friend. The tables were too close together and the staff we uninterested. The food was ok. The portion sizes were hit and miss with my minute steak being a good size while my friends chicken dish overwhelmed by rice.

Overall, I won't be rushing back. My advice to the restaurant is remove some tables, train your staff to ask how the meal is/was and show them how to be more attentive and polite. Finally, work on your menu to remove the supplements and standardise your portions.

“Poorly trained staff”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

We stayed at the adjoining hotel and ate dinner here. The service was very poor. We had to ask for menus, water and call someone over to take our order. Our food arrived but no one had though to give us cutlery. The food was mediocre at best. The garlic bread appetizer was nothing more than a small slice of cheese pizza. Husband had lamb which was overly chewy and I had steak with was just ok but I had to send the peppercorn sauce back as it was nothing more than single cream with a few floating peppercorns in it.

The kicker was that we were charged for 2 BOTTLES of wine instead of two glasses and it took three attempts to get the bill correct as we had a 50% off a glass of wine coupon which they seemed unable or unwilling to apply.

Give this place a miss and venture out down the street for a better experience.

“terrible”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

A meal with friends turned out to be the most un-professional and rude service I have experienced and with overpriced disgusting food to match luke warm and very bland. A lovely hotel shame about the restaurant. The owners need to address a serious number of problems

“DISCRIMINATION IS WRONG”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2013

Today for lunch we went to ASH RESTAURANT INVERNESS beside the train station during our holidays & as soon we went in the door the staff were giving us dirty looks and tried to put us off by saying that it would be a 20minuet wait for food even though the place was dead! We were obviously not there clientele little did we know it was because of my Down syndrome uncle!! We never got offered drinks and after 10 - 15mins someone finally came over to take our order, we order for my uncle willie (in the picture) fish fingers off the kids menu as that's all he can eat is small portions and every where we go he has always had it! But they then turned round and said no he can not have that then for a supervisor to come over to say they CAN NOT SERVE MY UNCLE TODAY. This is clear DISCRIMINATION and I want to make every one knows what a horrible place that is. That staff were rude from the word go! We made our opinion clear to the staff as we walked out. Noone should be told what they can and can't eat especially when it's a treat for them. Please LIKE AND SHARE so that everyone can hear what this "award winning restaurant" is really like!
