“Very enjoyable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2014

The restaurant is small and unpretentious, but the food is excellent and the staff welcoming. The added bonus is that you can bring your own wine/bottle. Given the quality and varied choice of food, to be thoroughly recommended.

“Birthday Dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2014

This is my 2nd time to the Oakwood & it was just as amazing as the 1st.
A great place serving freshly cooked food.
Both my mother & I are vegetarian and we were delighted that we had such a choice that did not compare to other restaurants who always serve the same old macaroni or goats cheese.
Everybody at the table enjoyed all 3 courses cooked by the wonderful Gabby & served by the delightful Gus.
Its bring your own bottle at the Oakwood and there is no charge for corkage which is a great idea.
There is a great little shop selling lots of nice gifts, scarves & bags.
The celling is great it is full of all different kinds of mugs & as it was my fathers birthday Gus kindly gave him a mug of his choice I thought that was a lovely touch as the mug right abve where my dad was sitting was his star sign.
At the Oakwood it feels so relaxed & you know that you are in for a great dinner.
I would say this is the best place to eat in Inverness & can`t wait to return to try out another option on the menu.

Thank you Gus & Gabby & staff.

“Quaint and quirky with fabulous food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2014

Visited this little restaurant on 22 June 2014 for a family member's 40th birthday, and were welcomed by Gus, who has a dry sense of humour, and we had great banter!
Menu choices are wide and varied, causing megga problems chosing, but all four of us were delighted with the meals we had. Freshly cooked dishes, beautiful veggies served on individual platters. Orkney fudge cheesecake was gorgeous, so much so, that although I was the only one ordering it, another was ordered once the rest of the group had had a little taste of mine!
No corkage charge for bringing your own bottle.
Lots of scarves and mugs hanging around for sale, and a lot of other things for sale in the little shop area. Enjoyed it so much, we have made another booking. Would suggest you book before you go, as doesn't take a huge number of people. Well done Gus and Gaby.

“Overrated cafe”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2014

We went for lunch mid April. It looks and feels like a cafe, in need of refurbishment. The home made lemonade was very unpleasant. And £3 per glass! The beef burgers were nice enough but small and served with a few limped lettuce leafs on the side. I'm sure the clouds of smoke and strong cooking smells coming from the kitchen every time the door opened can't be good for the many scarves hanging up around the dining area. The service left a lot to be desired. Given our experience we would not go back and we are at a loss to understand the high rating on Tripadvisor.
