Recently bought as a garage but transformed into a lovely cafe. Rivendel Cafe is on the side of the road just passed Wick Tesco when heading to John O' Groats.

Garden centre, fretwork (wooden gifts), stepping stones and plaques, jams, bath salts and framed pictures "All For Sale"!!

Average quality basic foods at very reasonable prices. Toilets could do with a good clean of not full refurbishment!

This cafe is a bit magical, it's quirky and charming, ramshackle and homely and very, very friendly.
The food was great cafe food, everything a roadside cafe should be, and the owners are very friendly and welcoming and a good laugh. We were at ease the moment we stepped in there, we were charmed by the various craft items scattered around, and it was great to see the casting workshop where the cement garden ornaments are made.
Our friend's 3 year old daughter put her foot in one of the fresh cement filled moulds, this caused a few laughs around the place, we were worried that we had created havoc but the incident was laughed off by the owners and it added to the experience. We were glad she had her wellies on though.
We all went away saying how much we loved the place and Rivendell is now our favourite Caithness food stop.

Each visit to Rivendel is unique. The gifts and crafts change regularly, the surroundings are improved but still a work in progress and the banter just gets better and better.

We met folks there recently who were in self catering accommodation a few miles away and they planned their day round the Rivendel menu.

The all day breakfast sets you up for the day (greedy folks can have chips too!), and the rest of the menu options have something to suit everyone.

Glyn has made some lovely woodcrafts to my own designs and we have had our heads together recently for a memorial cross which has been very much admired. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and the fact that they have remained open throughout the winter last year is testament that they are getting it right for locals and visitors alike.

We visited yesterday for a Roast Sunday lunch and it was lovely, both plates wiped clean.

Lovely place to call into and either have a full meal or a snack, the banter between the owner and customers is good always happy to meet your individual requirements. Also does some beautiful wood craft Glyn has made us a lovely name plaque for our house at a great price.
