Had a very comfortable stay, the room was clean and spacious.Food was first class with most of it sourced locally. The breakfast choice was superb giving us a grand start to the day.
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was from a time gone by.Well done!

I chose Mackays to host a dinner for some fellow professionals and the evening went down very well with my friends and the food even more easily.

It is a family affair and the new generation in Jennifer is following in the footsteps of her parents, providing excellent discreet but attentive service - but with her own flair and personality.

You will not be disappointed.

Stayed here after walking 18miles from duncansby head via John Ogroats. We arrived in the pouring rain to a friendly receptionist who showed us to our room. We stayed in a room with a river view, which was well decorated. The bathroom was modern with a jacuzzi bath, which unfortunately didn't work. We mentioned this to the owner who quickly rectified the situation. We ate in the bistro at the hotel, and I can honestly say it was the freshest piece of fish I have had. I had fish and chips, which came from the local scar steer fishing fleet. Yum, Yum. If your looking for a higher end hotel in an isolated part of the country then this is the choice. Highly recommended.

Large quiet room overlooking the river Wick, a town unexpectedly interesting . On the expensive side (£ 119 VAT incl) , but worth it.
Welcome cordial and bottled water in room . Walking distance to center and harbor. Hairdryer and even a ready iron and board in the hallway. Cute intimate pub, restaurant charmeless but good food except i could not have a half portion of a scottish soup (cullins Skink) for half price ( i am lactose intolerant but I still wanted to try it ) . Friendly staff. Parking in front of the hotel .

Room Tip: # room 24 is an excellent large bright room with a bathtub albeit a bit tricky to use the stopper.

Dear Ondine21

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry you couldn't get a half portion of Cullen Skink, that is very unusual so thank you for raising that training issue.

It's great to hear you enjoyed all the little extras we add to our rooms and our food.

Next time you're in Scotland do come and stay again and we will make sure you sample our Cullen Skink!

Kind regards
