“A warm welcome to a lovely B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013

Situated near the center above the bank is a lovely warm welcome by angela and william and their 2 young children.. Even though the rooms are situated on the 2nd floor are lovely warm welcomming rooms with ensuite bathrooms.. We stayed in the big family room towards the front. A wee bit noisey but easily shut out with the windows and child safety windows shut. With suggested restaurants by the owners we found good meals for 2 nights.. There breakfast was quick out which helped with the breakfast menu in yours rooms to fill out every evening. And was very nice to eat the next morning.. I hope to stay there again and will recommend to anyone who's going to that area to at least spend a couple of nights there.

This is a lovely find, excellent nice tasting cooked breakfast and well furnished rooms tea coffee making facilities with extra supplies just outside the door. Free wifi and a nice family feel, Hannah and Holly the 2 children are lovely kids but not intrusive. There is a lot of stairs up to the rooms but after a few times up and down you get used to them. Parking at back of the building and easy to walk round the town. Nice Italian restaurant good food and lovely coffee on the main street. We did struggle to find anywhere to eat on a Monday not even a chip shop open then we found Wetherspoons a nice surprise as the food was nice and tasty. If we are back up in this area again we will certainly stay here.

I organized a Geocaching event in Wick with people coming from all over, my grown up daughter coming over from Norway so booked online the apartment at the Bank House for the 3 of us months before the event was to take place. This was very handy as just around the corner to where we would be meeting and meant we could walk to from the venue and for once the driver could have a drink ! This was all BOOKED months before

The owner of the Bank House phoned us a month before the event to tell us he didn't have a room for us and gave us a phone no. of someone who possibly could put us up ! This was out at Ackergill so not exactly handy for where we were meeting, having dinner and now meant a drive ( after having been driving since before 7a.m this was really what the driver wanted ) !
Spoke to the chap in Ackergill who told us he was renovating an old cottage and it should be finished in time for our visit we would be the first people to use it. It all sounded very nice but it still meant a drive after the event which wasn't what we had wanted. But went with this as we had no real choice.
A week before the event, we get a phone call to say the cottage won't be ready as no electric
So there we are, months of planning and organizing, everything booked and sorted and the hosts have no where to stay

Your booking is not safe ! We were left in the lurch at the last minute.

Room Tip: Stay at The Norseman

Thank you for your comments, we take all guest comments seriously and all are fully investigated and acted upon, we were unable to offer the apartment as requested due to a unforeseen problem. you were notified four weeks prior to your arrival, not last minute and offered various other phone numbers and recommendations, as we pride ourselves on the service levels our guests receive. We receive extremely positive comments regarding the accommodation and service and can assure others reading this that the guest house has high standards of service.

We stayed here one night after of a 7 day Lands end to John O' Groats cycle ride. Initially I told at time of booking we would arrive at 4.00pm. When I did arrive there was no one in. I milled around for about 15 mins and still no one home. This was not a problem as I still had to collect my other half, who had been doing the cycling! I phoned from John O'Groats and was called back a little while later to arrange our return. The property is much nicer than it looks from the outside, with lovely wide stairs and a great feel to the place. We were a little surprised that before we were shown the room we were asked for payment. The room was really big and looked expensively decorated, but the mattress was a little bit of a letdown though, you could feel the springs through it. Shower room was fabulous. Breakfast was adequate, but didn't set the world alight, which was a little disappointing when you are staying in a B and B. I got the impression the hosts were a little distracted by their family life, which is understandable with young children, but we thought we had paid a little extra for this type of stay and expected a little more for our money. Perhaps we expected too much, but comparing it to other places we stayed on the same trip I think we are being fair.

Just returned from a short stay in Wick. After travelling from Aberdeen to Wick with 2 friends we received a very warm welcome from Angela ( not arriving till 22.20 on train)
After being shown to our excellent equipped rooms we were given a lovely glass of port as a nightcap , what a nice touch , especially to 3 senior ladies.
In the morning we were warmly greeted and had a beautiful breakfast( cooked by Wiiliam) .
As we were leaving by train later we asked to leave our bags , no problem , what a friendly and helpul couple.
We will highly recommend to our friends. Excellent position , decor and value for money.

We stayed here for one night during a trip around Scotland.
The welcome was very friendly and helpful. It is run by William and Angela (along with their two young daughters!) We had the pleasure of meeting the girls but would not have known they were there, had we not seen them - they were so quiet.
The room was very comfortable and well appointed. Tea/Coffee making facilities in the room, with the added bonus of refills being available on the landing, instead of having to ask all the time-great idea!
It is very close to the centre of Wick which was ideal for walking out to find somewhere to eat.
Car parking is nearby and is free.
The downside of the Guest House is that there are a lot of stairs. However, even though I walk with two sticks, it definitely DID NOT spoil my stay for the one night.
We would have no hesitation in recommending the Bank Guest House.

We recently spent two nights at the Bank Guesthouse in Wick. Our room was a good size and very clean and tidy. In fact the whole guesthouse is lovely. Breakfast was really delicious with plenty of choice. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful but unobtrusive (they have a young family but we heard nothing from the children).
Wick itself is small but a good base for the Northern highlands. We would recommend the French cuisine restaurant (Bord de L-eau) and No 1 Bistro (at McKays Hotel).
