“Quiet New Year Break”
Reviewed January 2, 2017 for a stay in January 2017

Had a busy Christmas so we were looking for a relaxed New Year.
We were not disappointed.

Ideally we don't take dogs on holiday but our usual kennels took a break this new year so took them this time, reason we don't normally take them is places that accept dogs usually not the cleanest. This is really not the case for Rowan, not only is it spotless it has everything you would need. As far as I could tell the only thing it didn't have was a dishwasher or hoover, and do you really need these when you are on holiday?
Owners met us on arrival and gave us a quick introduction to property and demonstrated heating etc, both very friendly and helpful said they were next door if we needed anything - we didn't but got the impression if we asked anything they would have been happy to help, told us some nice places to visit for walks with the dogs.
Great break and couldn't fault in any way would happily recommend and hopefully we will return, maybe try and hit better weather next time as area looked lovely but in battering wind and rain we got sure it was not at its best . That said still great and like I say we will hopefully return.

“Lovely out of the way cabin”

We were met by a very nice and friendly Sylvia and provided with fresh eggs and flowers lovely touch the cabin has everything you need for your stay and a new large screen tv has recently been put in, A great view over the fields to the Orkneys with other fields of sheep and cows and the family dogs three cats and several chickens and a very proud cockerel, as with all holiday lets the population is ageing and the installation of grab rails in the shower over bath would be a great help and the settees are rather low, it is very quiet of a night with the only sound heard as mentioned by other guests is the mechanical timer for the heating in the hall (digital timers are quiet) but all said we had a lovely stay

Exceptionally clean in a quiet spot close to the owners house, who we didn't need after our initial contact on arrival. Warm and comfy accommodation with a large HDTV. Everything you might need was included, from toilet rolls to tea towels. Flowers and fresh eggs to greet us was a really nice touch. Cottage was an ideal base to explore Caithness and Orkney, we will certainly recommend to family and friends. Good value for money.

“Lovely little chalet!”

We stayed here March 2016 for 4 nights whilst volunteering on a project. The cottage is well presented, layout is excellent and very clean and tidy. Booking through Trip Advisor was new for me and so simple. You could see the reviews and then book. The owner got back to us really quickly and payment was super easy. Really good value for money.
The cottage sits in the owners garden but the way it's designed your views from the lounge is out to open farmland. It's really well laid out with an open plan kitchen, dining living area, double bedroom and bathroom with both bath and shower facilities.
The kitchen has everything you need and easily cooked dinner each night. There is a table to eat at then 2 sofas.
The owners left fresh hen eggs for us, really nice touch. The hens and cockerel are all around the property!
Location wise, ideal for visiting any area of Caithness.

Very nice chalet. Owners very helpful if needed but as everything was spot on so did not need assistance. So much to see and do.Beautiful area , great Beach just up the road.Difficult to fit everything in in just a week.If you love the great outdoors Caithness is superb.
The chalet is only 10 minutes from Gills Ferry so took a day trip to Orkney as well.
