“Simply Stunning”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

What beauty, what peace, I recommend going as far as the road takes you to the dam and walking on. The scenary is spectacular. There is a deer herd half way up the glen and numerous great riverside and hill walks.. Try and alocate a full day.

“An absolute must for lovers of the Highlands of Scotland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2013

Anyone that loves the wildness of the Highlands will love Glen Strathfarrar. However first a warning. Access does have some restrictions. Some times of the year it is closed and when it is open there is a restriction on the number of vehicles allowed per day not at any one time. If you want to visit get there first! This glen has everything, scenery, wildlife and a great drive. As you arrive at the gates you get a permit and enter the glen. Starts off with some silver birch lining the road, keep your eye out for deer at any time. It then opens out with mountains on both sides of the road. The road follows the River Farrar right up to the Monar dam with Loch Monar on one side. You can drive over the dam and the road continues for another short while. Stop where there is room and get out and enjoy the Scottish Highlands at there best. If the conditions are right you have an excellent chance of seeing the magnificent Golden Eagles, I once saw a White Tailed Eagle here as well. Make time for this stunning glen!
