“Huge portions smell of frying”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2011

huge portions served - one diner in our party asked for roast beef which came floating in a huge yorkshire pudding with gravy - not at all appetising, Fish and chips not great. Dining room smells of fat.Seating very close to other tables . Not nice for a relaxed time

“The Cairngorm keeps reaching new heights”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2011

During our stay at the Macdonald Highland resort we sampled the cuisine at a few of the local restaurants. The Cairngorm has been one of our favourites for over ten years now and even when it is busy there isn't a long wait to be seated. On the 3rd Jan my family and I went to the 'Cairn' after watching Narnia at the Macdonald cinema and even though the restaurant was very busy at 7.30 pm we were assured we wouldn't have to wait long. Sure enough, that was the case and even allowing for the fact that they were absolutely heaving the quality of the service and food was spot on .
It is a testament to the place that they are always busy but there is also a re-assurance in the fact that many of the staff have worked there for as long as we can remember and that provides a great stability.

Loads going on here with good food and plenty of local beers to sample! Good for the kids and made to feel really welcome! Was here over new year and although really busy the staff we great! Food is hearty and is just what u need after an active day outdoors! Never disappoints! See you next year no doubt!

“Worth every penny”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2010

Have stayed in the Cairngorm on four separate occasions it is clean comfortable and the staff are brilliant. The hotel is central and information to what is going on is easy to find out.
The hotel has many theme nights and entertainment where many locals also join in, that to me is a good sign of any hotel.
The food is of good quality although there are not to many vegetarian choices, service is quick and the staff helpful. The prices are in keeping with any good quality hotel.
Breakfast is what you would expect, good choices, hot, many extras and enjoyable.
The hotel is in need of some internal refurbishment but in fact, is in character with its age and Scottish style. If you are looking for a sterile holiday that is cheep don't go here.
I will book again, always satisfied.
