“Take your money and run”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

Really enjoyed the golf course but the greens were appalling. Charged the full whack and then given a 10 quid discount per person for bringing 5 people to the course and hiring a buggy. Even had the temerity to ask me to remove my golf shoes when i ordered a round of beers at the bar. Nae golf shoes in the clubhouse! Mair like a bar with a tv screen pal.

Really felt as though we were ripped off as putting is half your score and with freshly cored greens on the front nine and pock marks for the second nine it was take their cash before the snow falls.

“Great location, poor condition”
Reviewed September 29, 2013 via mobile

Just played the course with 3 friends on Saturday. Firstly when I booked there was no mention of heavy coring program.

On arrival we were giving a small discount of £10 as it was claimed that 6 holes had been cored that week, with some others done in previous weeks.

Well every green was heavily cored and not enough was done to fill in the holes. Greens were really bumpy & lets not go on about the bunkers. Unfortunately, we all managed to catch a few and some had more stones in them than sand. And not just small stones!

Championship course, you're having a laugh.

£45 for golf plus £15 each for buggy hire a total waste of money. We won't be back or advise others to play.

“Tough year for the course.”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

Spey Valley is a Fantastic looking Championship course, in a Fantastic setting.
I have been fortunate enough to play this course twice this year(May and September), however both times the condition of the greens have been terrible, although both times i was given a small discount(10%), neither time was i told that the greens were in poor condition.
On the plus side, the new Clubhouse is finished and looks great!

“Good but close to being excellent”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

With an excellent new clubhouse, first class and professional staff, and practice area unrivalled in the area, this golf course is close to being excellent. However it is let down for two reasons:
1)Greens which could be very good are variable, especially so where they have been hollow tined and the holes badly filled in. With some greens not tined and others tined some time ago, this was a real disappointment in mid-September
2)Fairways generally are not of a high standard. Highland golf courses struggle after winter, but in September they should be better than this.
Design is fabulous, surroundings amazing, bunkers superb and wildlife abounds. Some Dave Thomas courses have taken a little time to settle and become fabulous. This course will achieve that very soon and the many superb holes will be memorable challenges for all golfers. Specifically I remember the 7th hole. Visually magnificent,(Cairgorm mountains dominating the distant view)the bunkers to the right draw the eye and force a drive to the "safe" left. Once there, 150 yards uphill to a protected green forces you to the right leaving a chip on, but the wonderfully contoured green makes this a huge test of green reading and shot execution! Enjoy it and then go to the 8th where nothing short of an excellent straight drive gets past the tree carefully left to protect the green

“Wow!”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

This is some course- long and demanding particularly in a big wind!!
Very interesting and varied layout- brilliant views
There are a couple of long walks between tees but this is similar to McDonald course at Cardrona
Our 4 ball took around 4 3/4 hours mind you we had a bit of ball searching in the large amount of heather on the course!!!!
