I live in the Lake District which is renowned for its beauty. But I'll take any excuse to go up to Aviemore and into the Cairngorms for a visit. So much history all round, from the Lochs, Glens and old ruins scattered across the landscape! Any time of year, its worth a visit.

When the wind was too strong for skiing we spent a very enjoyable afternoon Quad biking on the Rothiemurchus Estate. The bikes were great and the instructor Mike was a very calm and reassuring influence - which my nervous 13 year old daughter much appreciated. It wasn't too cheap at £42 hour but the thrill and the scenery made it worthwhile.

stunning scenery and almost every outdoor activity you can think of is available - even the free ones. large area so even though it has hundreds of visitors daily it is often completely quiet and feels remote.

Brilliant trip - highly recommend. Travelled in the landrover all over the estate. Very well informed ranger guide. Also, had a picnic basket provided with lovely tea/coffee and shortbread.

I love the walks on Rothiemurchus estate especially Loch an Eilein. Even in the height of the season it never seems to be busy and there are so many lovely places to stop and admire the views or just enjoy the peace and quiet. The visitor centre is well worth a visit for the restaurant, which is very good and its sometimes impossible to get a table its so popular. The gift shop has some really unusual bits and pieces and the food hall, though small has lots of different items to tempt you. I never seem to leave this place empty handed!
