This is a well-situated accommodation, right by the path into town and safe for children. It was great to be able to stroll into Aviemore in 5 minutes for eating and shopping, and the cottage was clean and comfortable. Owner is very friendly and lives opposite so on hand for any other needs.
Aviemore has the best summer sky at night, it looks like the dawn. The place is fantastic for nature lovers. We d open the kitchen door at the back of property, and out there were the mountains. The blue mountains or the Cairn Gorms.
Aviemore GP clinic has its own Xray department, possibly because of the all skiing going on in winter and beyond. Also I was biten by a tick near Loch Garten and I got a doctor s appointment very fast.
The best thing about the property was the books and info on Cairn Gorms. I enjoyed leafing through them. In the kitchen some details such as a cheese knife and the dishwasher constituted a surprising luxury. The worst thing was that the bedrooms were a bit small for two people and consequently would get too hot in the night. Also the walls were a bit thin and the floor creaked a little. But everything was clean.
If you stay on for two weeks in a row, insist on having the bin emptied. I did not, thinking I could do without this, and then I had to move it myself to the furtherst point from the back kitchen door, which we usually kept open for air, and for the beautiful view of the mountains.
