Just back from a 2 day stay with family. Of all the hotels I have stayed in over the years this is the most fun hotel, and one which gave most enjoyment. Probably, I would guess, a 3 star grade hotel but one which is special for a number of reasons. This is the definitive Scottish Hotel with wood panelled walls, tartan wallpaper and carpets, and stags heads on the walls. What made it special for us was the excellent food - great helpings - and also in particular the warmth and friendliness of the welcome. The staff and service were great.

Our rooms were spotless, and though not the largest we have stayed in perfectly adequate size wise. Location of the hotel, directly across from the rail station in the Main Street is brilliant.

However, the best bit of the hotel for us is the bar and restaurant. There is a real buzz about both, they each were very busy, but with a warm cosy feel. The bar in particular is a great place to be, with entertainment every night. On our first night we enjoyed an excellent fiddle and guitar duo playing Scottish reels and folk music, and there was a quiz night the day after. There seems to be live entertainment every night (although this never disturbed us in our rooms). The bar staff are friendly and efficient, and there is a fab range of whiskies to try, if like me you are a fan of the good stuff.

Our only minor gripe would be that on each night the entertainment didn't start until the TV football match of the evening finished, at about 9.30, and particularly when tired after skiing, we would have preferred an earlier start, even if the football was quietly on TV in the background.

The price we paid, for 2 rooms, 2 nights, (3 people) including our bar and food bills was about the same, in fact slightly less, as we had intended to pay in total for 2 separate nights to break our journeys in Premier Inn, including a meal deal, so brilliant value.

The Cairngorm Hotel is by no means the largest or grandest hotel I have stayed in. However for a warm, cosy, friendly, and fun hotel, brilliantly located, and as just a really nice place to be, this hotel is hard to beat. I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Second floor, front probably quietest, and with good views to Main Street, station and mountains.

After many years living in the states, it is great to come to a hotel that celebrates being scottish, the tartan carpets to the stag horns on the walls. We thoroughly enjoyed our few days here, place is clean, friendly, and the staff are welcoming. Off down to the Trossachs next before returning to Loch Lomond to meet up with family again.

Room Tip: Comfortable clean rooms

We returned last Friday afternoon from a superb four nights' break, and have not one complaint or negative comment to make. From our first 'phone call of two or three, to enquire about a booking, the receptionist was extremely helpful; taking her time to explain, fully about available rooms. On our arrival, the room was exactly as described. All of the staff throughout our stay were friendly, cheerful, helpful - nothing was too much for them. There were menus with excellent variety (many with the chef's own eclectic, delicious making) the food was well cooked; breakfasts; meals in the evening, in the bar area or restaurant - all were presented in the same pleasant manner and served by friendly, efficient waiters and waitresses (is that PC?). Both at lunch-time and dinner-time, the hotel was busy - and the quiz night on the Tuesday had a great atmosphere. In fact there was the same great atmosphere pervading the hotel during our stay.
Our room, above the function suite was warm, comfortable, quiet (even from the noisy traffic on the busy road). There were the usual items - Flat-screen TV.; tea and coffee, etc.The Our bed was large, very comfy and gave us a great night's sleep. We didnae want to go hame!

I have been travelling to Aviemore regularly since I could walk and visiting the bar of the Cairngorm Hotel since I was old enough to drink ;). Luckily, I have a fantastic relative who lives in the Village who provides me with accommodation for the majority of my visits however on this occasion a surprise train trip to celebrate my Dads 75th birthday gave myself and some other family members the opportunity to stay at the Hotel. I knew the Cairngorm had a good reputation however I wasn't quite prepared for the fantastic service, immaculate accommodation and the quality of the food on offer. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly and everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I can't think of anything that would have made our stay more enjoyable. Fantastic, well done!

Visited on Saturday 29th March 2014 , was passing through Aviemore and met up with family who were visiting the resort from Edinburgh , we didn't have a reservation for evening meal and despite being very busy the staff quickly located a table for our party of 9. The menu was very comprehensive and a good choice for children as well. Drinks order was taken promptly as was our food order , service was fast , friendly and efficient and quality of food excellent. Would definitely return again and again - and recommend to friends , family and to those reviewing this site - fact that its on the main street and close to the resort centre is added bonus... so to summarise , warm welcome , great service , quality tasty home cooking and reasonable prices

This is the main hotel in Aviemore and has a kitch Scottish decor with lots of deer heads/horns on the walls and tartan wallpaper. The menu is diverse and while the food is quite ample, the food is average quality and a little pricey
