Only limited opening on the days we went, but still some really good boarding and at a reduced rate of £26. Much better value than a fully open Lecht just down the road!

We spent a few days skiing at Glenshee & Nevis but really wanted to go to Cairngorm as it advertises itself as such a good place to ski. To be fair the location is stunning.
The phone message and website stated that there would be lots of runs open. BUT only 2 lifts were open & the train was not working so the huge numbers of people all ended up in the same queues. Have a look at my picture!
I waited up to 45 minutes for the lifts & a 3 or 4 minute ski down just to stand again for 40mins again. I managed about 5 or 6 runs & even walked all the way up one run as the wait was so long. So a total of about 30 minutes of skiing for £33.50 is outrageous. This place should be ashamed of such a poor service.
At Glenshee & Nevis it was cheaper and although the wind was stronger there were more open runs & hardly any waiting time.

Thank Harry G

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent visit to CairnGorm Mountain on TripAdvisor. You are certainly correct in saying CairnGorm Mountain is set in a stunning location and the blue sky day which was present during your visit, certainly attracted its fair share of skiers to Scotland’s premier ski resort.

We understand your frustration with regards to the limited uplift available, but please rest assured that CairnGorm Mountain is doing everything possible to operate as much uplift as possibly every day. In order for our guests to make an informed decision on purchasing a snow sports ticket, we have made considerable improvements this season to provide our visitors information about the snow and uplift conditions on the mountain. We have designed a new website, which integrates with our Facebook posts and have linked all weather feeds directly to the Met office. In addition to this we launched CairnGorm TV contains up to date information on the lifts and conditions. This is displayed on screens in the Ticket Office, Front Door, Cas Bar, Shop and Ski Hire. Ultimately it is up to the individual to decide if they wish to purchase a ticket for the price we are selling, for what uplift and cover is on offer.

Without knowing the actual day of your visit it is difficult to provide further details concerning the cause of the queues you have photographed or indeed if they were sustained in length for the entire day. Given the February half term is the busiest time of year at CairnGorm, we posted messages alerting people to this and that our Car Park may become full and what uplift we were hoping to operate.

The team at CairnGorm Mountain are dedicated and passionate about opening as much of the resort as possible, however there are days when simply due to the bad weather or circumstances beyond our control this is simply not possible. There are a number of factors which determine the opening/closure of a lift. During February 2014 we experienced a prolonged period of strong winds which moved masses amounts of snow on a daily basis all around the mountain. This caused the burial of several of our tows and lifts which subsequently had an impact on the length of time it took to access the tows which were operating. We always try to provide an honest appraisal of what uplift we can offer on a daily basis and we would advise anyone visiting any Ski resort to check directly with them on what is on offer the day they intend to visit. From our experience conditions can change not only on a day by day basis, but also a minute by minute basis.

Once again, thank you for taking the time review CairnGorm Mountain. If you have any further suggestions as to how we can safely improve the services and facilities we provide, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Perfect snow conditions, busy but staff worked hard to reduce waiting times for the lifts. A good friendly atmosphere in the café . Beautiful views. Get there early at the weekend if conditions are good.

Such beautiful scenery. We were there just in time to see the purple heather on the hills.
It was so beautiful to see the deer and sheep grazing on the hills.Every bend on the road was more breathtaking then the last. Such a beautiful place to see.

This is a genuine review of my experience of two days boarding at the cairngorm mountain ski resort. Firstly the car park is too small to cope with the vast numbers of people trying to use the mountain. The Cas bar is far to small, there are about 10 tables inside and if the railway to the top of the mountain is not operating which I gather is prob about 80% of the time during the ski season this results in a 3000 people plus all trying to use the same faculties NIGHTMARE!!!!. The lifts are very old and can't cope with the amount of people using them, You will queue for 40 mins to get a lift 300m up the slops before enjoying another 40min Wait to get a Tbar lift to arrive 2/3 of the way up the mountain to only enjoy a 4min ski down the over crowed runs before enduring it all over again NOT COOL. I travelled a long way to board in the Cairngorms and won't b doing it agin soon. I do need to take my hat of to the small team of people who get up every morning to shift vast amounts of drifting snow, but if I'm honest I would just let the snow bury the lot and keep it as a summer attraction.
