Owner description: CairnGorm Mountain is a great place to visit at any time of year. Ride the UK's highest funicular to just below the summit of Cairn Gorm, enjoy a walk with a Ranger or on one of the self guided routes. In winter, enjoy great snowsports on 30km of pisted runs suitable for beginners to experts. Lunch at the UK's highest restaurant, shop for gifts or mountain essentials and depart with unforgettable memories of this unique place.

We made a special trip from Pitlochry to visit the well advertised "Christmas Market" assuming it would be something special. What we found was that part of the restaurant / bar area was given over to a few stalls selling a very limited range of items as well as an almost bare Christmas tree. The bar itself served some "festive" mulled wine but apart from this there was no attempt at providing any Christmas atmosphere. This appears to be a cynical con to dupe unsuspecting visitors out of their money.

I have walked this mountain plenty of times over the years and have always wanted to visit the ptarmigan. The train cost just over £10 per person, expensive but I don't imagine it to be cheap to run. All the staff (except the incredibly rude man at the ticket desk, who was on the phone the whole time throughout his serving us) were friendly and helpful.

There was a school trip in the que with us but i was surprised at how many people can get into the train. The journey up is fantastic and on a clear day the views are spectacular. There was a Christmas market when we went and pretty clear skies.

The only tip I can give anybody is don't go to the restaurant during a meal time as it is difficult to get a seat go out with meal times and it is much quieter.

Visited today with my mum in wheelchair and cannot fault the service from the staff throughout the whole of the facility. We went up the funicular railway and it was so easy to get on and around. 10 out of 10

Unlike the previous reviewer who took 6 months to post a whinging Pom review, we visited yesterday and loved every minute of it. Yes there were people jockeying for key spots but still plenty to see up & down.
Could whinge and say that there was no view from the Restaurant due to ice on the windows but instead got my butt outside in the freezing -2 weather and had some fun. Yes it was blowing a gale and the view back down the Mountain was obstructed for 80% of the time we braved it outside but still got to see a lot. Info centre was great reading about the site history, gift shop had the usual stuff, Restaurant staff were average at best but otherwise would do it again in a heartbeat. I live in the steamy tropics and would freeze my butt off doing this again anytime, highly recommended, value for money!
