Owner description: CairnGorm Mountain is a great place to visit at any time of year. Ride the UK's highest funicular to just below the summit of Cairn Gorm, enjoy a walk with a Ranger or on one of the self guided routes. In winter, enjoy great snowsports on 30km of pisted runs suitable for beginners to experts. Lunch at the UK's highest restaurant, shop for gifts or mountain essentials and depart with unforgettable memories of this unique place.

Had a trip up the Funicular Railway which was jam packed with skiers and some (like myself) non skiers. everyone was in great spirits and there is something to do for everyone. The views are spectacular.

We visited on a dull day but the view from the top was worth while. The outdoor viewing platform gets cold and windy so wrap up warm in cooler months. The restaurant was slightly disappointing as more like a cafe with a limited menu and when busy the window tablesnever seem to be free!!! The seasonal Christmas market was nice to browse. How do they get everything up that mountain?

The ride up to the top is smooth and you get great views. Try a hot chocolate in the cafe and look at the view. Saw Ptarmigan and Snow Buntings from the cafe. Very safe if you are nervous of these sort of things. Lots of elderly people on our train up and they loved it too.

Took my none walking wife up recently. Thoroughly enjoyed the views from Ptarmigan restaurant at the top at 1100m without having the hard work of a 3 hour uphill slog. Anyway, people complaining about not being allowed out at the top really need to realise why. A) The Cairngorm Plateau is the closest we have in the UK to an arctic tundra and as such the weather can get very nasty, very quickly and coupled with zero visibility people who are neither properly dressed or able to navigate can and will get lost. A lot of people have died on these hills, even in summer. Do not underestimate them. B) if you want to walk up a mountain walk up it, from the bottom like everybody else but make sure you can both navigate and have the correct equipment, if there was 500 tourists milling about the top of cairngorm daily the fragile fauna would soon be gone , we would have people getting lost and litter. Keep the tourists in!
