We rode in the second car which turned out to be a bit of a poor choice as the heat didn't get turned on in our car until the return trip, so we spent the whole ride freezing. However, it was quite romantic that way since my fiance and I got to snuggle up and enjoy the scenery. No real complaints about it. I only wish it was a longer ride!

We loved the steam railway trip through the highlands... so lovely to be able to take the service from the main Aviemore station, and experience history alongside the modern trains. Beautifully cares for steam train and carriagss and a range of services on offer - we took a packed lunch but could have had a meal on board. Shops at each station offer snacks, toys and merch for the afficianado

We went on the Halloween train journey today and it was fantastic. So much effort had been put into making it fabulous for the kids and it was a great experience. I now fancy doing the ride in first class one time to experience the other end of the spectrum! I thought it was excellent value given all the extras they threw in - food, drinks, games and face painting for the kids.

We enjoyed a very good round trip on this railway from Aviemore to Broomhill. This is well organised and well worth using.

We were shown to our carriage by Maureen who was very friendly and helpful.
The afternoon tea was substantial and took us most of the journey to finish and there was plenty of tea and coffee to go with it. Other drinks were available and these were very reasonably priced compared with other outlets in the area.
Had a very relaxing hour and 40 minutes looking at the beautiful autumn colours, what a great way to spend an afternoon!

Four of us went up to Aviemore in the superb Scottish highlands, to board one of the beautifully restored steam trains for the experience of riding in this lovely old train and our prebooked Sunday lunch. We were shown to our booth in the dining car, soon after which our drinks order was taken and served. The train departed to the lovely sound of a piper on the platform.
We stopped soon after where we were treated to a lovely view and served our first course. We were pleasantly surprised how good the food was. We all had hot rolls, I had a delicious soup and my friends all had salmon which they too agreed was excellent. We moved on again and enjoyed more scenery and good company. Our mains were all roast beef and again absolutely fantastic.. Later we had desserts all of which were very good. The service was friendly and efficient..good selection of drinks at reasonable prices...this was an experience....and a great one....we would recommend whether you just go on this wonderful railway or did what we did and do the double with the Sunday lunch.

The Afternoon Tea experience is absolutely amazing. We loved it!

The whole thing is incredibly well organised, from the beautifully laid out tables in the dining car which have been labled with everyone's names to the friendly staff who immediately take your sandwich (there are 3 choices) and drink order. We actually had our food and drinks before the train even left the station!

Everything is presented with attention to detail, and the afternoon tea itself was delicious, especially the scones. There is plenty of time to enjoy it all as well, and you are offered refills of tea and coffee.

The journey feels a lot longer than the time it actually takes, and being Autumn we had some stunning colours to enjoy.

We'll definitely be back to do it again next year!

Felt a bit let down , really looked forward to our visit of this steam railway but felt in did not live upto expectation (was mine too high) other than a steam engine pulling some old carriages along a short piece of line some 30 mins each way nothing else helped to take you back in time , maybe i expected too much but would definitely give it a miss if i returned.

Hello,

We are disappointed to hear our heritage railway did not live up to your expectations.

Most of our customers are extremely happy and relaxed on the journey and find it very nostalgic as you will see on our past reviews.

The full journey is 1 hour and 40 minutes although we do stop at each station for a short period of time to allow people to enjoy their surroundings.

We had a lovely day out on this one of a kind type experience. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the train was incredible. Our youngest (nearly 3) was in his element. However, £29 for 1 stop (15 mins) return, for 2 adults 1x 6 year old and 1x 2 year old felt a bit steep. Would do it all over again though.

Thank you for your feedback.

We are sorry you feel the prices are 'a bit steep'. As we are sure you can appreciate, running a heritage railway has significantly high costs involved but we do try to keep the financial impact on customers to a minimum.

We will pass on your kind comments to our staff on board and look forward to welcoming you on board again in the future.

My wife and I enjoyed a trip on the steam railway, it was a nice trip, very scenic and the intermediate stations looked lovely. The staff were great and very friendly. The trip was very busy so it’s clearly a popular attraction, would recommend it
