Owner description: Steam through the stunning Scottish Highlands in style. Our steam engines take you on a very special trip through the Cairngorms National Park as you travel between Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill. Why not make your trip extra special with one of our dining on board options: Light Lunch offers soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee; Afternoon Tea has some sandwiches, scones with jam and cream followed by some delicious cakes; or enjoy a full three course Sunday Lunch or Dinner. Why not upgrade to First Class to enjoy a meal in one of our compartments, finely decorated in it's own tartan, with vintage British Rail mirrors and luggage racks inside. Split your trip up with a visit to Boat of Garten to explore some fantastic walk trails or bring your bike on board to explore the great cycle routes in the area. See if you can beat the train back from Broomhill on your bike!We are also taking part in the Great Railway Treasure Hunt 2013, so there's plenty for the kids to do on the trip!

I took my Grandson and his parents on the Strathspey railway for his 3rd birthday. He was a bit too shy to meet the engine driver but we all thoroughly enjoyed a super day out, the sounds and smells evoking many happy memories of past times. We broke the journey on the way back at Broomhill to have lunch and a walk. The station and particularly the waiting room were beautifully kept.I was so pleased to see the petetion on your desk to keep York railway Museum open. This has since been granted and we have just been to see the big exhibition there that includes four of the A 4's, one brought over from Canada! Many thanks to all you railway enthusiasts who give your time freely to keep thease places open and well cared for. Linden R

Our second visit, first was made some 5 years ago. An excellent trip. We dined with friends on the Clansman lunch special. Excellent food and service whilst watching some fine scenery. Great value for money as 3 course lunch and train ticket was one overall price. One minor criticism was that the beer was rather warm!

We really enjoyed our visit on this steam railway travelling from Aviemore to Broomhill. Do remember you go past Broomhill and then come back before alighting!

This was a pleasant trip but nowhere near as good as the Jacobite steam railway; where the views were terrific. I think the main pleasure here is the steam train and the pretty railway station. One more for the enthusiast.

Easy to find - main station in Aviemore. Lovely old carriages and fantastic scenery. Friendly volunteers and cute little stations. Only bug bear is at last station where train turns round the shop is a bit limited - would have loved an ice cream!
