It is my first stay back at the Hotel for many years and upgraded to a family suite. The room was first class and very comfortable. It was nice also to see the main restaurant has been refurbished and it looks good. Every member of staff in the hotel were extremely pleasant and helpful. Only two miles outside the centre of Aviemore which can be walked in 20/30 minutes if you wish. If you are arriving by train there is a local bus (check timetable) that can drop you at the entrance to the drive of the hotel or take a taxi outside the station.

I have been to Aviemore a couple of times, but this was my first time at the Hilton at Coylumbridge. I was most surprised by the size of the place. We got a very nice welcome and showed to our room which I must say was clean and of adequate size. The breakfast buffet served was substantial and well cooked. The two restaurants are very nice too though do not have a very big menu. Booking a table in advance is a must. The package was room with breakfast and dinner. The dinner costs more than the allowed £16 per person if you take more than one course and order drinks.

The hotel caters to all kinds of guests and seems to be very popular with families with young children hence the entertainment was catered more to their taste. There is a large games area indoors and outdoors for the kids. All extras seem to be charged separately.. which ultimately pushes the bill up.

One major drawback was the lack of free wifi (more than the complimentary one hour in the lobby). In this day and age of internet and digital era, it is a big negative when the hotel cannot provide good internet service.

We enjoyed our stay especially the new Woodshed which is a bar with a log fire far away from the noisy lobby where the evening entertainment is held. The prices in the bar are a bit steep but the ambience is good and a good place to chill out.

We have been going to this for more than thirty years and still enjoy going.it is very family friendly so if you don't like children running around it's not for you.If you have children or grandchildren then it's definitely for you.great facilities and comfortable rooms. However have to say on this occasion our room was quite cold.
Over the years we have seen staff come and go but this time the new restaurant manager Khalid was the most pleasant and friendly manager we have met. We had a great weekend

Room Tip: Unless you have mobility problems ask for an upstairs room

Just back from a "Sunday Savers" DBB package. We regularly take advantage of offers here and know what to expect. The room and bathroom were fine, although not large, and the bed was comfortable; but the access stairs and corridor left a lot to be desired.
My other main gripe was the state of the gents changing area and showers at the swimming pool - missing and cracked tiles, warped wall panels etc. should really be attended to.
On the other hand, the food in the Inverdruie dining room was excellent - the breakfast particularly so; but the bargain package was diminished somewhat by the high cost of wine and coffee. The staff in the dining room were pleasant and very good - as indeed were others elsewhere.
The location of the hotel within the wonderful Rothiemurchus "playground" is a huge plus, and probably the main reason we keep going back.

Booked king sized deluxe, and when arrived in room it was a standard 4ft 6 double - when asked at reception was told that's all they have at Coylumbridge (so why did we pay for a king??). 4 night DBB booked, but restaurant closed on first night and already fully booked for the 3rd night when we checked in! Given that the rate includes 3 courses in the inverdrui, we were surprised that you can't get even one course in the bar for the allowance you get and we just scraped 2 courses in the bistro - which we had to use as the restaurant was closed!! The other interesting thing is 'family' dining time (which was the only time we could get on the other nights) at which there were no families as they had all booked the later times prior to their arrival - lesson learned there if we stay again.

The wifi is awful and very expensive, the spa is dated & mostly out of order - the in room info also says there is a steam room - there isn't. There was no decaf available at the costa or in the restaurant for the whole stay.

The bedroom was small and lighting hopeless, there were 3 sockets (one for TV, one for kettle and one for clock - so none for guests to charge anything). The shower went from very hot to scorching and the bath towels were tiny.

However the position is very convenient and the food very good (when you can book in for it). The staff are friendly and it's obviously good for kids and families.

Come on Hilton, put some investment into this hotel and sort out the dining arrangements!

Thank you for your review on your recent stay and was sorry to read of your disappointment. The Inverdruie Restaurant is open each evening and has certainly not been closed. As I am unable to clarify when you stayed with us I am unable to comment on your other points regarding your dining experience but thank you for your valuable feedback.

Stayed 4 nights on a DBB deal, upgrading to a family room simply to take advantage of the two double beds. The size of the room was OK for two but a family of four would surely find it cramped. Despite notices saying bed linen would be changed after 3 nights it wasn't, apart from this, the room housekeeping appeared fine. The bathroom shower was a disappointment the water pressure was so poor. Some reviews say the hotel is 'tired' and I agree some aspects need to be repaired/renewed or simply updated but this was not a big deal. The staff appear to be mainly east European. I would give them 100% for being enthusiastic, helpful and for their smiles. Hopefully the management appreciate their positive contribution. I cannot imagine anyone would be disappointed with the vast choices available at the help yourself breakfasts on the other hand during our four-night stay the limited dinner menu in the Inverdruie restaurant never altered. Wine charges are far too high and a big let down - the cheapest bottle being £20 for something very ordinary. Other bar and coffee prices are similarly very high. The hotel advertises itself as being child friendly so be prepared for children. We found lots to do in the area and never had time to try the pool or other 'facilities'. For us the real plus were the breakfasts and hotel staff balanced by the very negative wine and bar prices but the acid test is always - would we go again? Yes, for a similar price.

Wr stayed on a DBB special rate for two nights in room 209 which was entered via a narrow staircase up to the second floor and on going through the first door from the lobby it really stank and was so old fashioned looking it really put me off before i even entered the room it smelt of bad drains or quite like a ski locker with damp clothes in it!! On entering the room it was clean but very compact with pretty old fashioned furniture a nice big tv though and a nice bathroom although the bath was 3/4 size very short but all very clean. I asked if this was a typical sized room and was shown another which was identical i was also shown the family room which was bigger but not as nice so we stayed put and were quite happy apart from the awful smell in the corridor, Dinner was very nice and the breakfast was fantastic we never used the swimming pool but got a taxi back from town which cost a staggering £7.20 but all in all good value break next time i would ask for ground floor to be sure i never had to use the old corridor as the ground floor apartments were all off the lobby and down new looking corridors,

Room Tip: choose ground floor
