“Great location, great facilities”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

The hotel is in a great location, away from the hub of Aviemore, you couldn't ask for better. The outdoor sports are second to none and if you have to spend the day inside because of bad weather, you can always have a swim or dozens of other activities. Totally recommended.

Room Tip: Get one away from the car park.

Hilton Coylumbridge hotel
We stayed for two nights in September. We’d booked a dinner bed and breakfast deal. On arrival we we’re given a family room which had two double beds. The beds were comfortable with lots of pillows. The bathroom was a reasonable size but when we used the shower we found it weak and not very warm.
The hotel was full of families with young children and seems to be set up for this type of clientele. There are ground with lots of things for kids to do and everywhere you look children are having a good tome. If you want a quiet time in the highlands I would consider somewhere else. The food was ok it varied depending on which of the restaurants you used. The more expensive the restaurant the better the food, which seems normal. Meals had to be booked and could only be taken after 8 pm one day.
Our main complaint was the price of drinks in the bar. House wine was almost £20 a bottle and for “pub” wine this was expensive. Also breakfast was chaos. When we arrived we had to join a queue of around 40 people. It was a buffet which we like but so many customers about that you grab what you can and leave. On the good side they served good sausages. The staff we found pleasant and helpful. We came on a family gathering and if we wanted to stay in Aviemore as a couple I would look for somewhere else.

We stayed in a two bed timeshare lodge. Wonderful position overlooking river and woods.
Lots to do for all ages. Bike trails wonderful walks from the hotel. Fun house for children on site plus a play area for younger children.Aviemore and Cairngorms near by. Hotel has good leisure facilities. Bistro is very good.

Room Tip: Ask for a lodge overlooking the river

This hotel is located in a beautiful setting. The staff are ok. The restaurant has been refurbished to a high standard and the meals served are very good. Breakfast has an extensive variety. The rooms are a bit tired but the beds and pillows are very comfortable. Evening entertainment was not too good. Its a good place for families. Swimming pool is good and changing facilities are good.

This was the second time we had stayed at this hotel. First visit 2 years ago was fantastic. Food was good, staff great. What a difference 2 years make. The main restaurant has had a makeover and now looks very nice- unfortunately the new head chef has been recruited from a failing Pizza Hut- take my advice and book B&B only. The breakfast was the best thing about the whole stay although be prepared to wait for it as the manager of the restaurant is too busy clearing tables to manage his staff properly. We booked the family suite which had a separate room and TV. Unfortunately the TV in the kids room was only set to receive BBC1 and the adult channel. My 4 year old twins still want to know what those men were doing with that lady. Be prepared to spend a lot, a large glass of wine was £8.60!!!!! Hilton should sack this manager immediately as customer service is non existent. Take my advice - book a local travel lodge and eat in the local pubs - far better value and food much much nicer.

Have stayed in this hotel a couple of times now. It's got a pool and gym in hotel and large soft play centre with cafe next door, free parking and only couple minutes drive from centre of Aviemore. Rooms are quite big, clean too. Restaurant for evening meal and breakfast is large and food is good, gets quite busy though, so need to book

Stayed another couple of nights as we love it here in the middle of the Cairngorms. The hotel was its usual thing chilled, relaxed and calming. All the staff as ever fantastic well nearly all the staff,We booked into the bistro for one of the evenings.....and its just does not seem to be the same staff as the rest of the hotel? We have tried it a few times before and thought it may be different this time?but no it was the same, the staff are just not friendly, polite or professional. We felt that bad that we actually walked out which is a first for us as we can pit up with a lot.

When we arrived to be seated the girl looked at us and treated us as if we were a bother. Not a hello ,good evening or even a smile. We sat at the table and just seemed to be forgotten and ignored, and I like to think that we are both polite and mannerly. We went to the main hotel restaurant and what a contrast.Met by a lovely genuine smile and a good evening by Laura. Our waiter for the night was Antonio really nice polite guy.The food in this restaurant has improved dramatically this year since the refurb, and we shall never bother with the' Bisto' again.

So it all worked out in the end but I just don't understand how the staff have always been so different between the two eateries? But we still love the hotel and a big thanks to the staff in the Inverdruie Restaurant (main one) ie Laura and Antonio.Breakfast as normal superb loads of choice and top quality.Had nice room looking out to mountains and the woods also squirrels outside our window in the morning. We shall definitely return as the hotel as a whole is great if you like a chilled feel with comfort in the middle of the highlands.

Room Tip: get a mountain view
