Description: The Druie takes its name from the burn(river) that rushes behind the restaurant and always seems in a hurry to carry clear, sparkling mountain water from the Cairngorms to the River Spey. We are open daily 9.30am - 5.00pm for locally roasted coffee, locally sourced tasty lunches, leaf teas and delicious homemade cakes, with a focus on dishes prepared from lovingly home produced beef from our pedigree herd of Highland cattle, our velvety venison from the ancient forest of Rothiemurchus and seasonal produce from specialist producers, served in a relaxed, friendly environment. Whilst enjoying your coffee or lunch at the Druie, you can enjoy the exhibition of local artwork which changes each month, especially selected by Ellie, who manages the Gallery at Loch an Eilein and is also a member of Creative Cairngorms.

This restaurant is just one of the many attractions and activities that contribute to a great day out in Rothiemurchus in the Badenoch and Strathspey region of the Highlands of Scotland.

The food is great and there is a selection ranging from excellent sandwiches to full meals at lunchtime and the restaurant is also open for dinner. Soups are really good with a special mention of Cullen Skink, a Moray coast speciality consisting of smoked haddock and potatoes in a creamy liquid. Mmmm. The aforementioned sandwiches are full of flavour, generously filled and use mainly local ingredients. There is a good selection of the local Cairngorm Brewery beers to wash down the food.

In summer, we often eat outside but today, we chickened out and ate in the small but welcoming dining room. Staff are attentive, friendly and efficient. This is definitely one not to miss!

Didn't actually eat here but visited the farm shop. Best venison I have ever tasted. Great range of produce. Go here before any ever else. Staff are welcoming and friendly too.

Popped in for lunch on a beautiful sunny October day. Served promptly at our table out in the sun. Delicious Cullen skink, tasty subs with salad and Cairngorm brewery ale to wash it all down. The baking is great too but no space for that on this visit! Well done Rothiemurchus.

We stopped by for a morning coffee and scone. We were sat immediately and given a menu to choose. We both ordered Coffee and a cheese scone. My coffee, a dopio machiato, was perfectly presented with the right amount of milky froth on the top though which to drink the coffee, my wife's americano has a very good amount of crema. The cheese scones were perfection - only my wife makes better, wonderfully cheesey and moist something that is difficult to achieve for a cafe. All in all a great experience and I would thoroughly recommend a visit. Special thanks to Claire for taking such care with the coffees!

We paid a couple of visits to the Druie when we were in Aviemore this last week. The first time was after a fantastic walk from nearby Coylumbridge to Loch an Eilein then round the Loch and back to Coylumbridge through Blackpark. The café was not busy and we were lucky to get one of the two outside tables that were under cover as it started to rain and we had our dog with us so we were restricted to outside. Everything was fine.

The second occasion was Saturday the 21st (which is when the poster below was there) and the service was poor as they were swamped. It coincided with the Aberdeen holiday weekend so it was maybe extra busy. There was a queue for seats inside and we were outside again. We were on the verge of giving up when our order was taken and it was worth the wait. Great fruit scone!

I'll certainly be back.
