Description: We use some of Scotland's best local produce to create healthy, wholesome & interesting food with a Kiwi twist. We opened our doors in 2004 and have been gaining awards and accolades for our antipodean style coffees, delicious breakfasts, superb lunches & fresh home baking ever since. Our service is friendly & casual with a professional team from all over the world. The café offers excellent views of the Cairngorm Mountains - enjoy our balcony area during summer and the cosy log burner to sit by during the winter months. All the pictures are of our food - why not come in and sample our hospitality when you are in the area next?

When we're in Aviemore (which is quite a lot), we always visit the Mountain Cafe several times. Sometimes it's because we can't be bothered cooking breakfast, sometimes just to pick up coffees on the way past, sometimes to pick up packed lunches for a day out, sometimes for an early tea (they stop taking orders at 5pm).

The fantastic thing for us is that they are excellent at dealing with special dietary requirements, and having gluten and dairy free members of the family, it's a even bigger treat. Especially the cakes.

I really love this place and visit daily when in Aviemore. The food is amazing I'm not a big soup fan but always have soup here with savoury scone. The cakes are amazing. The only negative is that the front of house team have changed a lot over the past few years and are not a patch on the old team. Who were always friendly, remembered you'd been in before and happy to help, they now tend to look like they'd rather be any where else and that basic service is a pain, never mind going above and beyond.

Love. The food here. This is the only place in Aviemore that serves interesting vegetarian food. Have never been disappointed. The home made bread is amazing. A real treat to eat here. Just wish it was open in the evenings.

We ate here twice during a recent visit to the area - once for lunch and again for dinner. The food was delicious and although we don't mind waiting for preparation of our order - we didn't expect to have to wait so long to be served. After being shown to the only vacant table, we moved within a minute to a newly vacated table by the window. Unfortunately it took at least 20 mins of not being served before we got fed up and had to ask one of the waitresses if she could take our order. This seemed to be a common occurrence - people moving tables then not being served for ages. Their system simply cannot cope with this. Again when we had finished our meal and wanted to order coffees, no one seemed interested in taking our order, even though the cafe was quiet and there were plenty of staff on duty. There seems to be no-one in charge to ensure efficiency. Such a shame.

We popped into Aviemore whilst heading south and we so pleased that we came across this memorable cafe. We only found it because we had been in the outdoor shop downstairs but fancied a quick coffee and something to eat and were so pleased that we went upstairs. It was busy but didn't have to wait for a table. There was a wide range of food on offer and the cakes were delicious, if anything the portion was slightly to big. Service was friendly and efficient. As we left the queue to get a table was down the stairs and almost into the shop. Clearly the quality of the cafe had spread far and wide because there were a number of other eating establishments but none seemed as busy.
