Description: We use some of Scotland's best local produce to create healthy, wholesome & interesting food with a Kiwi twist. We opened our doors in 2004 and have been gaining awards and accolades for our antipodean style coffees, delicious breakfasts, superb lunches & fresh home baking ever since. Our service is friendly & casual with a professional team from all over the world. The café offers excellent views of the Cairngorm Mountains - enjoy our balcony area during summer and the cosy log burner to sit by during the winter months. All the pictures are of our food - why not come in and sample our hospitality when you are in the area next?

Really lovely soup and coffee. Nice to find somewhere good to eat, which would definitely encourage me to return to sample the cakes, which looked amazing.

“Fantastic pit stop and a for the cakes...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2012

I nearly always get a takeaway as the queue for a table is usually too long and I don't have time to wait. They usually have 2 soups on offer: one more traditional and one a bit less, well Highlandy - for instance green pea and chilli. They also have a savoury scone of the day - big and tasty and pretty filling with the soup. I still manage to squeeze in a bit of cake especially if I've been out walking. The carrot cake is stupendous but the impressive things is the range and variety - a feast for the eyes. If you eat in, make sure you go over and look at the cakes. They don't do dainty here but they do do interesting combos. Next time, perhaps I'll take a photo and add it to this review! For those sitting in, they do salads and other stuff which always looks nice as it whizzes past. The only downside is that being in such demand means service looks a little chaotic at times.

“Big choice and great value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2012

Had lunch here with friends. This was our second visit and won't be our last. Soup and wraps were very filling and tasty. Lots of veggie options without the boring usual stuff. Try the curley fries for a change. Drinks were nice and hot and the waiting staff very friendly. Scones and cakes to die for, the choice is endless. Also do take away. This must be the best place in Aviemore to eat. You might have to sometimes wait to be seated, but it's well worth the wait.

“Hearty”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2012

Was looking for a cooked breakfast in Aviemore (a trick that seems to be missing in the cafes) and was guided to the Mountain Cafe. Climb the stairs and you are in the cafe which is very busy. On looking at the menu thought the full breakfast was a bit on the expensive side at £8.95 albeit with toast and coffee. However changed my mind because the ingredients were of the highest standard, loved the sausages and lots of first class bacon. A bit pretentious though as the ingredients were piled high one on top of the other a bit like a big mac without the bun. I prefer my food neatly placed covering the whole plate. On the whole a good experience.
