“Do not eat here!!”
Reviewed February 26, 2011

Sorry to be so negative but having gone for Dinner on Sunday to find the carvery closed at 6pm (this is the busiest weekend of the year) and a hand ful of people eating in the bar I should have known better. We paid 10 quid each for roast beef dinner only to be presented with a microwaved re heated meal, deep fried roasties , packet gravy, it was terrible.
Shame as the place looks great and should be packed but they seem to have got greedy
The pool closed early both days I went to use it as had got dirty due to too many people using it, no I'm not joking. Take it a proper filter was too much for the hotel to afford.
The place is a joke

The lodge we normally have has become very shabby and delapitated. The previous weeks occupants were obviously smokers and the lodge was absolutely disgusting, the whole of our stay. I asked for all the duvets, pillows and bedding to be changed which was done but nothing else was attempted to get rid of the smell. The smell encroached again into the fabric of the bedding and we eventually cut our holiday short because it was so bad.

hmmm where to start, the pool started off warm at the beginning of the week but was cold at the end of the week, the jacuzzi was out of order for the entire week we were there, no hot water in the showers at the pool if you go too late on in the day i.e. after a days skiing there is no chance of getting a hot shower after a sauna or swim. A whole family cant get showered in a chalet as the hot water runs out after one person has showered so if planning on going out for the evening after a day out skiing, its either cold showers in the chalet or cold showers at the pool! (apparently hot water runs out because there are too many people staying there, this is a daily occurrence and nothing they can do about it!) Had a meal in the restaurant, wish we hadn't wasted our money, food and service was appalling especially for the prices charged, organised activities not very well organised as reception seemed to have no idea about anything which is going on, for that matter reception just seemed to be there to try and fob you off with whatever your next problem was, never muttered so much on a holiday, at least the whole family had a great time skiing and eating out, would recommend Old Bridge Inn (well worth a visit the food was lovely) and we had a takeaway from the SnowMountain chinese takeaway which was really nice too, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves except for the accommodation/facilities. Quite happily visit Aviemmore again just wouldn't stay here again.

Stayed here for 7 days in a lodge for 4 people. I'd probably echo most of what was said below. Our lodge was OK for what we paid as we had booked late and paid less than half price. I'd have been extremely disappointed if i had paid full price. We were looking forward to using the pool etc. Ladies changing rooms were freezing cold, complete with very wet dirty floor, one changing cubical and 3 showers which were cold at all times. The water in the pool is cloudy and smells like an old fish pond. We complained to staff, who effectively just shrugged their shoulders and said they know!!
Aviemore is a fab place, I will be back again but definately not to Dalfaber.

Used timeshare exchange (Dial an Exchange) to book chalet 21. If you are thinking of staying in this chalet . . . DON'T. It has been converted for disabled people and was wholly unsuitable, (extremely small, tired, not very clean, smelly, dank and dull) for a family of four adults and a 2 year old - why should disabled people be expected to accept such inferior accommodation?!! I am shocked that Macdonald Resorts manage such substandard accommodation. Receptionists at the resort said they were horrified that we had been advised to book this chalet. I had phoned Dial an Exchange a few weeks before we were to visit the resort due to rather negative feedback on Tripadvor and they (Dial an Exchange) assured me the chalet would be perfect for our stay!! We didn't even take our jackets off. Phoned Loch Rannoch Highland Club in Kinloch Rannoch (where are timeshare owners) and received the service we have always had from the wonderful staff there (Margaret, Jenny, Allan and Ann). They saved our holiday by allocating us one of their two bedroomed units for the week from that night and thanks to them my family and myself had a great time. Pay their website a visit - www.lochrannoch.org.uk Yes it is quiet compared to Aviemore but if you are looking for a 'get away from it all break' with magnificent scenery, hillwalking etc, it is just perfect. Unfortunately my lovely little grandson didn't get to swim in the pool at Aviemore - he had been so looking forward to doing this on holiday, and my son-in-law didn't manage a round of golf either, all due to misleading information from Dial an Exchange . . . BEWARE!! My ratings on this review relate to Macdonald Dalfaber Golf & Country Club.

Lacking in atmosphere! Seems to have had refit but there is nothing happening here. Restaurant full but they don't seem to want to keep customers in and make it fun! All in all rubbish and will not return!

This is a very tired "resort" needing much updating. The swimming pool area is very run down with wall tiles missing and little or no heating in the female changing rooms. Actually there seemed to be a severe lack of heating in any of the leisure areas including the bar area. When we checked in we were offered no information on the facilities meaning it was pot luck if we happened to be in the bar area when the children's face painting was on. The accommodation is very dated and there is a charge (extortionate) for ever scrap of electricity used in your accommodation. The children went to play table tennis ( extra Charge) in the sports hall and came back colder than they would have been standing in the snow outside. Overall this is not worth the money and there are definitely better quality places to stay in Aviemore. Not some place I would recommend.
