We own a timeshare week at this resort and visit regularly out with this period. Great pool for the kids and 9 hole golf course which is ideal for beginners to. Great Quiz on a Sunday night. Have to agree food is over priced. How ever lots of choice in Aviemore well worth a visit

We were not staying at the resort but were in a house close by so decided to go for dinner one night. We had booked a table for 7.30 and got a call an hour later to say that the restaurant couldn't take us at that time but they could offer us 6.15 or 8.00. Not a problem we thought, busy is a good sign so we went for 8pm.

First impressions are good with a nice dining room but strangely there were only 3 tables occupied despite the change of time for our table!

Anyway, the menu looked good with a decent choice. We had a selection of food between the 6 of us with the starters being reasonably good (haggis, smoked salmon and fish cakes all ok). The main courses which were priced at £12-£14 for fish/scampi to £20+ for the rib eye, were a disappointment. Having promised so much it was just a bit bar supper like and if we were paying £6-£8 for the deep fried scampi you might have been happy enough but we weren't.

The steak was also poor. Very dry for a medium rare rib eye which gave the impression it had been lying around the kitchen for a while resting for much longer than it should have. I selected the 'secret' sauce for my steak which in view of the fact we were in a 'Scottish steak club' restaurant I thought would be good. It was as poor as the steak.

To be fair the service was good and friendly and the Malbec Reserva we chose was very good.

Wouldn't rush back.

Great place in Aviemore, but out of Aviemore! We swapped our week for one of the Speyside apartments through RCI. The apartments are great, clean and up to a very good standard - highly recommended. The apartments themselves ours no. 8 was less than 50 metres from the River Spey where we enjoyed walks with our dog along the River and along the golf course, fantastic location.
The area abounds for those who love to get out and about. this is a perfect place to hire bring your bike - endless paths to choose from. some of things we did too may to mention include, the Cairngorm reindeer, trip up and around the Speyside distilleries - take your pick, fantastic walks all around, Aberlour, with a lovely pub called the Mash Tun, recommended + dogs welcome. Lochs abound, favourite one Loch Morlich with a sandy beach...!! Rutherven barracks, sculpture trail etc - we just ran out of time.....!! Oh the forestry centre next to the Cairngorn reindeer centre, to the left, as you look at the centre, does the best cakes in the area - a hot chocolate and a cake - highly recommended!!
The staff at the resort are polite and were helpful throughout. Definitely come back and can recommend

We didn't stay at the Dalfaber but had week-long leisure passes. The setting & the hotel are lovely and the leisure facilties are good and spotlessly clean. However, on day 2 of our holiday, the jacuzzi broke down and there seemed to be no concerted effort made to have it fixed. In fact, by the end of our holiday, it still wasn't working. As that was the main attraction for us (a spell in the jacuzzi after a hard day on the slopes is just the ticket) it kind of put a downer on my view of this hotel.

We stayed for a 4 day midweek break at Dalfaber. We found the Alvie Lodge to be everything we needed , it was clean , well furnished to a high standard. It is surrounded in breath taking scenery . Lovely warm swimming pools, steam room and sauna . The country club has a well stocked bar . Restaurant food was average compared with its sister Aspect restaurant located at the macdonald resort. Reception checking staff were really helpful and were full of local knowledge for the first time tourist to Aviemore.
We will be back soon

My family and I had the pleasure of eating at the Scottish Steak Club at Dalfaber while we stayed at the Macdonald Highland resort. My wife and I had roast of the day which was beef and it was a lovely, big portion with plenty roast potatoes and veg. Our boys had meals off the childrens menu which too was very good with the tomato soup being home made and not out of a tin. The service was excellent with Jo and Michael providing sterling service even though the restaurant and bar were very busy. There are probably many guests of Macdonalds who think the short journey out to Dalfaber is a nuisance but those are the people who are missing out on a true gem.

I almost didn't go to this resort based on some of the reviews I had read. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The 2 bed chalets are small (very little space in the bedrooms) and I agree that they are only suitable for 2 adults and 2 children but the refurbished units are nicely furnished and have everything you could need and ours was very clean. We looked at the 3 bed Topsider unit with a view to coming back with more people and it was lovely. The restaurant has a lovely fire in the centre and the food was good. There are 2 screens showing sport in the main bar which does tend to be full of children. The pool area is nice but us busy in the evenings and the gym is very basic. The games area is great with tennis, badminton, squash etc. Our unti (31) was the quietest I have ever stayed in and you are gauranteed a good night's sleep. The staff are wonderful, especially Johan who made us very welcome and was extremely helpful. Electric came to £30.70 for the week. I plan to go back again later in the year.

Room Tip: Get a refurbished unti
