Food and drinks very expensive and poor selection. Captive audience so maybe haven't tried very hard?

It was snowing when we visited in May, so this added to the atmosphere. we visted during the day, and did not do the evening dining experience, but that is something I would love to do.

The restaurant has fantastic views of the mountains, and I am not surprised that getting a table in here can sometimes be difficult. We have been in here during the skiiing season, and there was not a table free. Indeed the chap at the funicular said that at times, people just sat on the floor. Our visit in May was fairly quiet though.

The food is varied, with a good selection of hot food, and for breifer stops, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cakes. Perfect for warming one up after being outside.

Due to how busy it is during the skiing season, I would not recommend this place for a sightseeing visit during the season; visit during the summer, as you will get a seat, good views, and you might even be surprised at the snow. There is always wildlife spotting if it doesn't snow.

The Ptarmigan restaurant is a great place to enjoy the views over the Cairngorm mountains. We went in winter so welcomed their speciality hot chocoloate to help thaw us out. Its a nice place to eat and just enjoy the views. I'm sure it is a very welcome site for those who have walked up the mountain. We took the easy way there on the railway.

My partner & I spent Easter Sunday on the Cairngorm Mountians and decided being the day that it was we would treat ourselves to a nice Sunday Lunch. The Restaurant itself caters for all and you get a great view out the windows of the Skiiers and Highland Mountains beautiful sceneary. The Food was cooked to perfection and served to you by the Kitchen Chef's front of House. This really was a lovely dining experieince at £6.95 per person for Roast Beef, Vegetables, Potatoes and a huge slice of Lemon Cheesecake. A Dining experience not to be missed

Quite simply 'THE' dining experience that you should try when in the Aviemore area. The food was of the highest quality and was superbly presented. The attention to detail over and above this added to the evening, from the welcome to Cairngorm dining messages on the electronic signs as you approached the venue through to the fleece blankets provided for warmth in the funicular on the way up and down from the venue. Finally, mention has to be made of the staff who were as attentive and genuinely friendly as I have ever encountered whilst dining out. Overall, a must do dining experience - as recognised by the Herald (if I recall correctly) who listed this as one of their top 25 dining experiences.
