In 2010 I decided for my 70th year I would kayak the Caledonian Canal from Fort William to Inverness, and what a great decision that was. Many weeks of planning and with the help of very good friends regarding the logistics, both Irene and meself, two septuagenarians,( but 16 year olds in spirit ), set off. What a fabulous adventure. In the four days it took us to complete, we experienced the most stunning scenery and delightful hospitality from the loveliest people you could meet.Although the trip was pretty arduous,it was well worth it, both from the amazing scenery and wildlife we encountered and the incredible sense of achievement we felt at having coped with some severe weather conditions that only the Highlands can offer. Severe but at the same time, wonderfully exhilarating. Would I do it again? You bet.
