“Busy bustling restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

The food and ambience in la vita is nice. The staff are attentive without being over fussy and the place is always packed out so they must be doing something right.
The pizzas are large and tasty but the lasagne and other pasta dishes are small in comparison but still tasty. If i was really hungry I would order a side to go with the main pasta dishes due to the smaller portions. All in all a nice dining experience in a relaxed and non fussy restaurant.
Worth a visit.

“Shocking! Trade description should take a close look at city centre La Vita”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012

I had no hesitation booking a table at La Vita. Having been a customer of the Bishopbriggs branch and having eaten in City Centre branch before, I knew the food would be good and the service would be quick. Just what we wanted before the Christmas Light switch on in George Sq.

There were 5 of us in total including a child. We were shown to a table at the end of mezzanine level. We looked at the menu advertising set prices for and knew it ran from 12-6 pm. The first waitress said it wasn't on. I checked the menu - it clearly said it operated from 12-6pm except in the month of December, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day. We asked the second waitress who immediately got the manager. He arrived promptly to say that menu only ran to 4pm today. No apology, no explanation as to why it had changed. Sister had looked on website at lunch time - there was no mention of this. The waitress took our order - very stroppy. To be honest, we should have left after the manager's lack of professionalism and empathy but time was then limited and looking for somewhere else to eat would have been problematic.

The 'happy' atmosphere continued. The menu offered items that they didn't have then we were served out food 'happily!'. Starters were okay. The waitress was trying to make a better effort to be pleasant during the main course. I got chicken au poivre. The sauce was too thick and the potatoes were covered in garlic. The waitress and the manager did check in to make sure everything was okay and that we were on track for leaving our table for 6 pm. I didn't bother sharing my real thoughts about the food or service - afraid it would turn into an ugly scene. So left, for the first time ever, without leaving a tip. I couldn't believe how mortified I felt despite being treated unfairly in the first place. I can only surmise that they took advantage of people coming to their restaurant for the lights and decided to rip them off.

I will not be returning to this La Vita.

“friendly staff adn yummy food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2012

We ate here on our first night in Glasgow, a very lively and bustling restaurant however the staff were very friendly and attentive. Tables very close together however adds to the atmosphere. Dishes are very varied and tasty however couldnt finish all of my risotto as there was so much of it :) Can get a little bit too hot, especially if table is on balcony above the kitchen however would definantly go there again.

“Decent Food at a reasonable price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

A bustling restaurant with a varied menu and attentive staff. Tables are a little close together so you can feel cramped and beware those of you with mobility issues as many of the tables are up at least one flight of stairs - with no lift available.
