“Superb Curry”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

We love it here and always visit when in Glasgow. Such great flavours, such depth and freshness. Glasgow is full of great curries but Mother India is something else, so do visit if you can. An odd note, but one to reassure parents wanting a good curry but not being able to get a babysitter: this time, we took our little one who isn't ready for a hot curry yet but the childrens menu offered haddock goujons which were freshly cooked just for him and they really were fantastic.

“Well worth the visit.”

Fantastic way to try Indian food, great selection and a very high standard. Had a bit of a wait to get a table, proving the point that it serves good food. Party of seven and everyone thought it was great, I will return.

Food distinctly average, staff unfriendly and behaved like voyeurs, peeping and staring at us throughout the meal. The waitress was lacking in knowledge about menu which was particularly unhelpful as we ourselves are no experts in indian cuisine. Wouldn't go back.

“You'll either love it or you might not”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

Had friends staying over during the Festive Season and thought we'd treat them to a nice meal. Where better than Mother India. Take a look at the testimony's on this website its brilliant. Thing is my friends remember Indian food (Scottish style) from many years back and therefore returned to Caledonia with a hankering for a traditional melt your spoon, food more vibrant in colour than a 4K tv and that you just knew you were about to do battle with your taste spuds with each agonising tongue scorching, searingly hot and spicy but nevertheless oh so satisfying mouthful of whatever curry it happened to be. All this sloshed down with a seriously freezing bottle of larger. Thing is Mother India doesn't do stodge. Modern India does food that is suited to the more discerning diner of 21 Century Scotland. Food that is flavoursome. Best quality produce with little or no artificial colouring and subtle spicing that enhances the meal. Spicing that is designed to whet the appetite, tease the palate, rather than be an all out assault on the senses (common sense often being the first to go in the good-bad old days). So, in summary, food fantastic, service a bit chaotic on the night (Christmas will do this to any restaurant) so nothing to complain about. This restaurant deserves all the praise it receives but deep down there is a wee voice that keeps hankering after our memory of a that curry for yesteryear, much the same way we reminisce about Hogmanany.

Simply just fabulous and great value. Try the green chilli ginger fish pakora. Portions just the right size - 4 small dishes plus rice and nan was perfect for two.
